Five Reasons I'm Through With Downton Abbey

Sunday nights are crowded with the best programming of the week, and there's only so much time for time-shifting anyway. To make a little space in the crowded field, I'm through with Downton Abbey.

Here's why:

5. The law of diminishing returns began setting in after season one.

4. Some story lines are starting to feel a bit recycled.

3. None of these characters seem to learn from their mistakes and grow in interesting ways. Okay, Edith does, but that's not enough.

2. The friction between Anna and Bates is too painful. Why must bliss be fleeting after protracted torture? Enough already.

1. It's not Gosford Park.
