Weekly Roundup of eBay Vintage Clothing Finds (PHOTOS)

Posted: 04/ 9/11 08:39 AM ET

No time to page through thousands of eBay listings? Then just sneak a peek at my weekly eBay roundup of top vintage clothing finds.

This eclectic mix of designer and non-designer vintage clothing and accessories caught my discerning eye because of their uniqueness, contemporary feel or highly collectible nature.

As always, buyer beware! Be sure to read the listings closely and contact the sellers with any questions.

Today's selections include pieces by Hermes, Christian Dior, Oscar de la Renta and Nina Ricci. Be sure to check out the vintage 1950s ombre prom gown and the beaded cashmere peacock sweater.

A wonderful collection.

I particularly enjoyed the Nina Ricci cocktail dress, the bee sundress, the sleek, glamorous YSL trench, the Dior jacket, the '40s nightgown, and the amazing crocheted dress. Re dress: Who'd a thunk?

Whoa those prices are out of control. Best vintage I ever got was an India Import 1960's purple and white mini dress with flower embroidery and pockets. I got it on Ebay for $11. I've seen India Import dresses for $100.

Go to Good Will, Salvation Army stores, or yard sales for "vintage" clothing and jewelry.

If you live in a place where you can still find quality vintage clothing at yard sales and thrift shops, count yourself lucky. Most places in my city are so picked over it's barely worth looking. It seems like vintage clothes have become a lot more popular in recent years. I have older friends who've been collecting vintage for decades, and they're always talking about how picked over everything is these days. Even ten or fifteen years ago, when I was in my late teens, I used to find perfect 40s - 60s dresses in thrift shops for around $20. Now, dresses like those frequently go for five times that much on eBay.

This is true in Australia too. Find a good dress pre 80s is like a lottery win.
