Mary Olivella is the Chief Strategy Officer for MomsRising, a million-member organization advocating for policies related to family economic security, healthcare, family-friendly workplaces and ending discrimination against mothers. She also serves as MomsRising’s director of diversity and inclusion campaign initiatives including those related to immigrant families.

In previous roles as a public health specialist, Mary was a consultant for the World Health Organization on global strategic planning initiatives and chaired the National Committee on Achieving the Nation’s Health Objectives in Higher Education. She directed the award-winning health promotion department at UC Berkeley’s Health Services, where she also taught in the School of Public Health and orchestrated the development of health education demonstration programs for the U.S. Department of Education and the State of California.

Born and raised in Panamá, Mary now lives in Northern California with her husband and, during semester breaks, their college-aged daughter.
