BY THE PEOPLE. FOR THE PEOPLE. NOW PRESIDENT OBAMA, HEAR THE PEOPLE!

Posted: 01/17/09 01:41 PM ET

We elected you, Mr. President, because we desperately need to change the world we live in. We, the great people of the United States of America, are counting on you to make the necessary changes to keep our Nation and our people safe both on our shores and abroad: to stabilize our economy that is suffering by bringing our jobs back to the United States and by curtailing unnecessary spending; to make sure that no one is denied or turned away from getting state-of-the-art and affordable health care, no matter what their illness may be; and to make our Nation proud again of its leadership, by giving us hope and steering us all as Leader-in-Chief in the proper direction so that we may all once again have the strength to accomplish the dreams that this Nation has had from its inception.

We are struggling Mr. President every day to make ends meet. Both parents have to work now to be able to afford our homes, to pay for our children's education and extra-curricular activities, to have two cars, cable television and the latest modern technology to keep up with our fast-paced world. Our family lives are suffering because of these hard times. Our children are alone more now because we don't have the time to spend with them. We are trying very hard to do it all to keep up and yes, the children are taken care of, but our family structure is falling apart as we are so busy and distraught that even our children are worried about the economic road ahead. Our jobs are being taken away and our investments have dwindled through no fault of our own. The family unit is this country's most important asset. We must get back to basics, and take care of our families and those close to us, as those bonds link us all together and strengthen our country.

It seems as though we are just starting to get past inequality and prejudice in our own country, and now we are faced with terrorism from abroad. Our policy has always been to welcome all into the United States who wish to enjoy the freedoms offered by Democracy, that is how most of us got here, but now we can't help but be afraid, Mr. President. Although great measures have been taken, we have had devastating attacks and attempted attacks on our homeland. We all suffered and grieved for those who lost their lives in these tragedies and in the war. Although we are acting like it is business as usual Mr. President, these tragedies lie heavily on our hearts, and the safety of our great country is constantly on our minds and, regrettably, on our children's minds. We need you to protect us so that we can get back to living normally and sleep well at night.

We have friends and family, Mr. President who can't get affordable health care because they have leukemia, cancer, or other serious diseases and their premiums go up. They are losing their jobs and their health care benefits. Their prescriptions are $2,000 to $3,000 a month, so they are forced to pay the high premiums, or the families have to take out loans on their homes to pay for their medicines. Families can't afford to get routine screenings that stave off diseases. The elderly give up when the doctor orders the medication they should be taking but can't afford; and many nursing homes are overcrowded and these people don't get the proper care and respect they deserve. They can't stay in their homes because there is no one to watch them, we are all working. What can we do to help these people, Mr. President? They are our families, our children, our citizens, and they are giving up on their lives.

We don't envy you Mr. President. IT IS A MESS! You have a long, tough road ahead of you to change what's happened, but we want you to know, we have ideas -- just listen to us; we still have hope and we will be there to help you by backing your decisions. Our morale is low right now, but we are willing to work and work hard for you to turn our country around. We believe in you and we must believe in ourselves. We know you are only one man, Mr. President, but we want you to know you are not alone. We can do this together!

We, the American people, promise you that we will stop being complacent and stop expecting someone else to make everything in our country better for us. We will stop complaining and become involved in making a change and help you, one family at a time, by stabilizing our family lives and showing our children the importance of being a family. We will look out for our neighbors and become active in helping them, one person at a time. We will all work hard to try to give up something that we don't really need and give it to the less fortunate and take pride in doing it. We vow to stand strong as a Nation together. We will all start right now, today, to help you make a change in our world, because tomorrow is too late.

If you need anything at all, Mr. President, just ask the American people -- we can do this together!

Dear Mr. Obama -

We demand ACCOUNTABILITY for these turns of events.

It didn't happen in a vacuum. MANY moving parts linked directly to that City on the Hill.

CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITY.

We demand it.

To all executive appointees and all congress people:

Give up your health insurance until the rest of us can buy the same thing you have at the same price. Show us you aren't corrupt by refusing to participate in the payoffs given to you by the health "insurance" industry. The fact that your insurance costs 1/4 what individual insurance from the same company costs to us ordinary Americans, is prima facie evidence you are accepting [illegal] payoffs.
