Words hit harder and the feelings of pain last even longer. This is not a boo hoo moment as some of my readers might think, but I am sure we all are aware that this country is only as great as the compassion it shows for others. My story was not put out there to invoke sympathy but to bring awareness to the plight of over half this working country. I was not putting myself out there to have some twisted hater use my words and emotions to fit the evils of antiquated politics. My intention was to bring responsiveness to people in all states that have stood with hands tied by government policies unable to do anything but watch the dying of their families, friends, towns and economy. They didn't just give my son several tours of duty to Iraq, they didn't just close the schools of Pittsburgh, or the mills of Pennsylvania, or the mines in West Virginia, or the automobile factories in Ohio; the farmers in the Midwest suffered too, the truckers, the union workers of every union is suffering the loss of empowerment and industry because we are not in the corporate eye an there for expendable. We as a nation have suffered these injustices.
The race for PA supporters is over, but the awareness and awakening is still here, while the campaigners have gone on to stir the consciousness of North Carolina and Indiana. As my footsteps echo in the empty Obama headquarters and I bent down to pick up a few loose flyers, the fan fare still rings. The question that remains is; has Obama or Hillary taken a second thought to their arousing of the sleeping issues and realize that they have invoked a widespread response of hope from me and other Pennsylvania residents?
Not until this election did I even feel my pain and disappointment would be heard or understood by any candidate running for the presidency. They usually lie, smear one another, and move on; this time, for the first time I heard Obama say something I haven't heard from any other candidate and it moved me, he said words to this effect; when he becomes president he welcomes lay input on important issues that he can work out the best results for America. He is a man of the changing times in America.
With much thought and a slight trepidation I have concluded growing isn't finished with me. The response to my article has been a cathartic experience and I want to thank each and every person with a comment favorable and unfavorable.
Oh and by the way; I don't hate Hillary. I just hate her game plan.
