Opposition Shrinks in New Jersey (VIDEO)

America continues its long, slow slog toward marriage equality, with progress in courts, in legislatures, and in public opinion polls.

New surveys from New Jersey to Hawaii confirm the longstanding trend of growing public support. That's particularly noteworthy now, since Hawaii is in the midst of debate over a bill to overturn its marriage ban. If passed, marriage could start there in mid-November.

Meanwhile, the New Mexico Supreme Court is grappling with urgent marriage questions. After a hearing last week, the court is slated to issue a ruling sometime soon. Their ruling could overturn the state's ban on marriage equality, or solidify it.

And in Illinois, a veto session is moving along with no debate about marriage yet. There's still time for a marriage bill to come up, but it's looking like the votes are very, very close.
