Indiana Senator Evan Bayh has made it official. He gave us what the country been waiting for. What the country has been pining for. He announced the formation of a "Moderate Dems Working Group", or to put it in layman's terms, a group of 15 or so Bush Dog... I'm sorry... Blue Dog conservative Democratic Senators with the ability to block any legislation that they deem too "change-y".
And thank god they did! Getting a Democratic agenda passed with obstructionist Republicans and a brain dead media was going to be just too damn easy! It's not like the last election was about change or anything.
Universal health care? Not so fast. Employee Free Choice Act? Fat chance. Meaningful environmental legislation? You're kidding, right?
What's great though, is that apparently there are three or four of Bayh's "Conservadems" that are afraid to let their obstructionist freak-flag fly.
Bayh originally discussed the hidden when he made the announcement on Morning Joe. But, still looking for more publicity for his gang, the Senator today launched a new game show called "Name That Obstructionist"! Take a look.
So, I'll leave you with question. Who, do you think, are the "Senators Who Must Not Be Named"?

Bayh is already in troubler with democcrats andd he will finfd out how stupid he is on this idra that stinks it wont work and he will go down in flames
I feel so bad that Bayh has decided to lead the other group, I really thought he was a thoughful and good man. But he is so worried about getting elected that he has decided to play the Joe Leiberman role. I am so sorry. Ruth
They all need to go! This is ridiculous!

No. Was this last night (Fri)? Who was it?
My vote for one of the 'hidden' members is Max Baucus from my state of Montana. He may have a D after his name but in his powerful committee positions, he certainly would not want to have it known that he is a Bush/Blue Dog. But all you have to do is listen to him talk and look at his voting record.
He will remain 'hidden' because it would take away from his influence on the committees he chairs.

Hmm. Baucus is a definite possibility.
SENATOR HERB KOHL: I see your name on that list, and I would like an explanation.
In lieu of that, will you please cover me under the first-rate health insurance policy that you get with taxpayer money - or I'll even take a less flashy version from your KOHL'S DEPARTMENT stores, if you insure your workers.
I've always voted for you, and I would appreciate an explanation.
Any hope of meaningful health care reform is gone. Truly disappointing.

It is very disappointing, Islandtime.
Um, if he ever wants to run for president--he better seriously reconsider.

Yeah, if folks like us effectively call them out on for their obstruction, and if it's ridiculed and not celebrated by the media (which is easier said than done)... I agree.
give obama their names so he can call them out every time he goes to the people.
I think this could actually be a good thing for the President and the Democratic Party...

Hey Edward. I read your piece and I hope you're right. However, having been nothing but disappointed by the Blue Dogs overt the last 8 years or so, I'm pessimistic.
Google "DLC"+"DNC" - for a bit of history on why this smells to high heaven.
This will be a really bad thing. They are going to block or water down every great idea.

I think you're right. What kills me is after letting Bush getting away with everything, now they grow a "spine".
So the fact that they will stop or water down needed legislation is a GOOD thing?????
Classic: "With Democrats like these, who needs Republicans?"
Yeah, that about sums it up.

Thanks.
