Though Will & Grace 's Jack and Karen may have introduced most of the world to the dynamic of the gay/gal duo, the fact remains that women and gay men have been teaming up long before those two were bumping boobies.

But are these unique friendships just for parody? Are they acting as substitute relationships that get in the way of gay men and women alike finding more fulfilling "real" relationships?
