Max and the Marginalized are a band and a blog.

The idea behind it is pretty simple: there is more of a need for political music than ever, but there are fewer political bands than there have ever been. Furthermore, how could a political band write a song about something happening right now and then wait months or years for their album to come out, when the story is long over?

Our solution to this has been to write and record a new song every week about something current and immediately post it here on Huffpost and at our MySpace and Facebook pages. The MySpace has all the songs we've done so far (20 as of this writing) available for free download, and there are tour dates there as well.

Consider the Source (A Song and Cartoon for John McCain's Credibility)

11 Comments | Posted May 9, 2008 | 01:08 PM (EST)

It was laughable to watch John McCain, who has proven to either have a bad memory, a problem telling the truth, or both, to ask that we "consider the source" in response to Arianna Huffington's claim that he told her he didn't vote for Bush in 2000. Then again, he...

As Fort Bragg Crumbles...

22 Comments | Posted May 1, 2008 | 01:51 PM (EST)

Each week a new national outrage goes underreported beneath the primary noise. Last week it was the Pentagon puppets, this week it's the deplorable living conditions at Fort Bragg, reported by a military father with a camera and a conscience.

If the people who are devoting their lives to fighting...

Since No One's Making Any Noise About the Pentagon Sock Puppets...

It has now been four days since the Times broke the story of the Pentagon sock puppets. The networks in question have all but refused to make any noise about this, so we did.

Whether he's calling his wife the C-word, mixing up Sunni with Shia, or making false claims about Iran, John McCain is repeatedly proving to everyone that doesn't happen to work for CNN or MSNBC that he's completely batshit insane. Enjoy our song Teflon John for McCain and the MSM that...

A Song for Gen. Petraeus

6 Comments | Posted April 7, 2008 | 02:33 PM (EST)

Gen. Petraeus will be answering questions on Capitol Hill this week, and since it's the congress and not the press doing the asking, there might even be some hard ones.

My personal recommendation would be to ask about the toll that repeated deployments are taking on our troops. If you...

A Song to Help Find Vicki Iseman (Remember Her?)

Posted March 20, 2008 | 07:17 AM (EST)

It has been exactly one month since the New York Times broke the John McCain/Vicki Iseman scandal, and since then the press has gone after Iseman with all the veracity and acumen of a dead hippo. What gives?

Don't get me wrong -- I think that if John McCain had...

Kiss The Ring (a song for John McCain's magically disappearing principles)

Posted March 13, 2008 | 07:46 AM (EST)

We thought John McCain might want something to listen to as he chucks his principles out of the bathroom window of the Straight Talk Express each time he capitulates to some figurehead of the religious right or hires one of the people who slandered him in 2000 to advise his...

A Song for the War/Election Math Problem

Posted March 7, 2008 | 06:20 PM (EST)

This week's song is about the mathematical problem with the war leading up to the election: the fewer casualties we take in the months before the election (and of course I'm all about fewer casualties), then the more likely it is that John "100 Years" McCain gets elected, which means...

The Good Fight Goes Bad: A Song for the "Good" War in Afghanistan

Posted February 28, 2008 | 05:45 AM (EST)

If the troops in Afghanistan were given the proper resources to actually hunt down the terrorists we are there to get, the war in Iraq would be even less popular. Our song this week is about how the last vestiges of support for the Iraq war are dependent on stalls...

A Charge That You Can Keep

It recently surfaced that "A Charge To Keep", a painting that Bush keeps in his office of what he believed was a man leading a group of missionaries (and became the namesake of his autobiography) was actually a painting of a fleeing horse thief. We all got a good...

If Only Every Day Could Be the Day Before the Caucuses

They haven't yet looked like idiots in camouflage hunting suits to presumably look more manly. Their teams of...
