Release Those Medical Records, John

Is it irresponsible to speculate wildly about what diseases or medical problems John McCain might have, despite not having a hint of evidence that's any better than what Bill Frist used to diagnose Terri Schiavo? You bet, but so is running for president at 72 years old with four cancers under your belt, yet refusing to release your health records. Choosing a nitwit whose contempt for intellectualism and reason makes Bush look like Kant certainly doesn't temper the need for McCain to release his medical records now.

Airline pilots have to submit their medical records to command a plane with 200 people on it and they have co-pilots. He is asking for a lot more responsibility than a 747 captain, and until he respects the job for which he's applying and the country which would be employing him by releasing his medical records, he has no right to have "Country First" printed on his podium.

If anyone applies for a job in this country they are required to pee in a cup. If they are applying for a white collar job they need to provide their college transcripts. I think all four candidates should pee in a cup and provide their college transcripts and college diploma. We are their employers and we should demand this.

It should be a minimum requirement that presidential candidates pass both a mental and physical health exam at the conclusion of the conventions. We require health screenings of pilots and other significant jobs involving the welfare of the public. Also, there should definitely be term limits on both the Senate and House. These long-term politicians get so deeply entrenched and indebted that they lose any sense of responsibility to the constituents who elect them into office. Enough is enough!

Once again, I'll comment. I'm a chronic pain patient. The drugs I take at times impair my judgement. It is difficult for me to believe that Sen. McCain is only taking aspirin.

I truly hope that the MSM will consider some serious reporting on the subject of Sen. McCain's health. It is an issue that has been largely overlooked in this campaign.

This week McCain addresses a crowd as "my fellow prisoners". Yet another example of a serious underlying problem. And, earlier, on Oct 1, Sen. McCain needed assistance in leaving the stage after giving a speech. Minutes before he finished his talk, he had a visible facial spasm, then he seemed to become disoriented/confused. These two recent incidents, combined with what seems to be increased erratic behavior and other instances of memory loss is very concerning.

Is this a function of a med ication he's taking? A physical illness? Some type of cognitive impairment? Perhaps it is related to his history of melanoma? This is worthy of some serious inquiry! We must press the issue.

And, of course, as a sound strategy, his health has the most profound ramifications based on his V.P. pick. I know this topic has been beaten into the ground, but it's all the more reason to work tirelessly in revealing her true beliefs, and the true nature of what she stands for. I really don't know why it's sound strategy to lay off of her to the extend that she's been given a pass when McCain's fragility and her right-wing wacky views could be played in concert with one another. She's got lots of skeletons in her closet that have barely been touched by either the media or the Obama Campaign.

And people have argued that the DNC, and the Obama campaign have been doing a fine job, great ground game, etc., etc., etc. But we know that 7% of the population sometimes lie to pollsters in regard to their predisposition to pull a switcheroo with black candidates when they enter the polling booth. We also know that voters in many states have been removed from the polls at unprecedented levels this year. At the same time, young people have registered to vote in unprecedented numbers, but will they turn out? The ability for the right to demonize a candidate should never be underestimated; it's one of the things that they do best. Why not even the playing field by revealing just how dangerous Sarah would be?

Today? I have not seen this.

He "released" 1100 pages for a few hours to a select group of reporters. Certainly not transparent or forthcoming - needle in a haystack, no idea if anything was missing, nothing on mental health.

If you search "John McCain medical records" there's one that says "McCain set to release records on Friday," but that's from May 22 and refers to the document dump where a select number of reporters (only one of them a doctor, as far as I know) were allowed 3 hours to go through 1500 pages with no copying or access to medical professionals who might be able to tell them what it all meant or what to look for. Is that what you're referring to, Beretta? Maybe you just saw the headline and never thought to look at the date? (There's also one from 1999.)
