We hate Lou Dobbs. We wrote a song about how much we hate Lou Dobbs and recorded it the other day. Enjoy.
Max and the Marginalized write and record one song per week and post every Thursday. Archives are here.
WEEKNIGHTS AT SIX
Weeknights at six a face comes on my screen
With flapping jowls and vicious scowls obscene
Up in arms and sounding alarms about keeping the homeland clean
Weeknights at six I see things better left unseen
Correspondents nervously chuckle along
As you shake your head and stare at your desk and yawn
Taking a breaking from the news for the hate, the complaints they go on for so long
Weeknights at six, tell me what else is on
'Cause there's other things that happen on any given day
But the subject never changes it's just "Get them out right away"
You haven't lost a thing, yet you're taking back what's yours
Weeknights at six I don't want to watch no more
Weeknights at six the venom crawls through the wire
Legitimizing the fringe for an hour entire
With one of them stuck so deep in your mouth I can't hold your feet to the fire
Weeknights at six, it's early but Christ, I'm tired
That vitriolic monologue comes time and time again
I expect that shit from KFI but not from CNN
And since I tuned in yesterday I've heard this one before
Weeknights at six I don't want to watch anymore
You haven't lost a thing and you're taking back what's yours
Weeknights at six I don't want to watch no more

Is your channel changer broken, Maximilio?
A shrill loudmouth populist, Lou Dobbs is simply CNN's desperate effort to compete with FOX's Bill O'Reily, et al, and their angry fearful low-brow minions. We need to secure our borders while also competing with the world's low-cost producers and shooting ourselves in the foot by excluding cheap minimum-skilled labor is foolish. There is an objective market reality here and if we ignore it the demagogues will surely take us down.
We used to have a place in Chicago for people like Lou Dobbs, it was called Bughouse Square.
Lynne Cheney and Lou Dobbs resemble each other, might they be related?
Lou Dobbs is a piece of work. He almost single handedly turned the immigration issue into a national crisis. You would think nothing else is going on in this country and the world for that matter that warrants more attention. Immigration needs to be dealt with, but it's not the threat idiots like him make it out to be.
Those of you pretending to be concerned about the illegal immigrants being exploited for their labor, stop frontin. You want them out of here so you hide behind their exploitation. If you're so concerned about them maybe you should start lobbying for an eventual path to citizenship for them and for fair and comprehensive immigration reform.
max, it sounds as if you support Corporate America importing millions of low wage illegal workers and displacing millions of Americans who would otherwise do those jobs for higher wages.
I wish you would abandon the far lefts illegal immigration agenda and help us fight corporate America on this instead of pushing pro illegal immigration propaganda.
Just look and listen and then tell me what it is that makes hating this reporter appropriate.

couldn't agree more...how do we allow this vitrolic racist commentary. But I guess it's working, his ratings are way up and they moved him to prime time...a sad statement for this country
Well, the song is great, but the lyrics? No, those do not work for me. The songwriter(s) have not heard Lou Dobbs for a while; he is on at 7 Eastern Time. Those progressives who are all for the Illegal Aliens - yes, that IS the correct name for them, and there are also Legal Aliens - should do a few things. First listen to your fellow Americans; they are fed up with this. The votes in the next election will NOT go to a candidate who is lenient on this issue. Second, look at what happened in Europe. Now, what is an Illegal Alien? It is a person of a foreign nationality who came to this country illegally, i.e. without proper papers and procedures. What is a Legal Alien? It is a person of foreign nationality who legally emigrated here, with the proper procedures and proper papers, OR it is a person who is here Legally for a restricted period of time. It could be a guest worker, a guest professor teaching at an University, a researcher, and more of those. Those who question what Legal Immigrants bring to this country should just look around, for example at your nearest hospital or medical center. You will see a numer of Legal Immigrants, doctors and other Medical personnel. Legal Immigrants can be found elsewhere as well. You do not become a Legal Immigrant without having exceptional skills, education, or both. Those who say we should restrict even legal immigration may well be right. However, first we would need, for example, more Medical Schools, and we should admit more students to those schools. Doctors and other medical personnel is recruited overseas just before they complete their education. This saves the U.S. the cost of educating these persons, and they also work then another approximately ten years at reduced wages. Another savings for Americans.
Took a tally here
the majority of the posters say that Lou is right on illegal immigration and unfair trade mand other economic issues.
Some folks like the message but not the meseenger. More seem to like the messanger too.
The pro Dobbs folks if you will have sound arguments as to why illegal immigration is a bad thing
the anti Dobbs folks only seem to have labels and name calling on their side - no compelling arguments in favor of their positions
Lou Dobbs would make a GREAT PODUS.
All the front runners from the GOP and DNC are not able to gain any credability from the people that matter, The hard working American Middle Class.
Great song. Dobbs is a vicious one-note bigot. This country has experienced high levels of illegal immigration from Mexico for decades, and it hasn't done appreciable harm. We need to make it easier for Mexicans to come to America *legally* and help Mexico raise its own economy but we don't because of bigotry. If it were Canadians sneaking across the border, no one would care.
Great song. Please post it to youtube. I want to listen to it in 5 years when immigration reform has been passed, and people ask: Lou who?
Dobbs. If there is anyone on TV that truly represents the economic and social views of JFK any better, I'd like to see someone think of their name.
)
That goes for the immigration issue as well. And in fact, not that the media would ever share with the voter, but Lou Dobbs immigration is most like Sen. Harry Reid's view back in 1993 - well, not quite as mean spirited, if you will, and not as interested in reducing legal immigration as much as Harry Reid, or for that matter, the Father of Earth Day, the late Democrat Senator, Gaylor Nelson:
Former Senator Gaylor Nelson, father of Earth Day, "We are preparing to celebrate the 32nd Earth Day just after the Census Bureau has announced that far from winding down in the 1990s, U.S. population growth boomed at its highest level in the nation's history! Not even the peak of the Baby Boom in the 1950s added as many people! This new population boom represents a profound failure in our nation's pursuit of environmental quality. Since 1970, another 80 million people have been added to the country. Every environmental goal has been delayed because of this failure."
Jacques Cousteau: "population growth is the primary source of environmental damage."
The US creates 24% of the world's greenhouse gases. OK - But, The US population is growing by leaps and bounds. CA's population alone is expected to increase by 23 million people by 2050 - 97% of the growth is by immigration (legal and illegal - and their offspring.
There's only one way to protect the environment in our lifetime - stop illegal immigration and greatly reduce legal immigration. Of course the bad news with that is that it will drastically slow growth - and corporate growth. The global warming folks are so lame, for their own egos.
When Lou reports he reminds me of someone who knows there's a terrible intersection that could use a traffic signal to keep things under control. But as usual someones kid has to be killed at that intersection before anything is really done about it. And it would be different if it were just that simple but to allow this complete irresponsible misuse of political power to go unchecked, well Lou isn't about to let that happen, Go Lou. Don't let any neigh sayers who happen to prefer to had pick those laws and rules they want to enforce slow you down, Lou Dobbs is an American hero and if you don't like the way he tells the truth about the incongruencies of the current political powers then you are also part of the problem.
I'm Lou i just all tore up about this, HA HA, since when does expecting the government to actually do what they are required to do make those reporting these inconsistencies an issue against there reporter? Lou Dobbs just happens to make some very relevant points which are most often undeniable truths. I don't see anything wrong with that. It's not the messengers fault he has such controversial comments, it's those charged with doing their job and failing to do so.
