Megan McKenna has worked for more than 10 years as a writer/editor/media relations specialist for international non-governmental organizations and is always on the lookout for new ways to tell the stories of refugees and the displaced. She is now writing a book with a refugee from Darfur which will come out in 2008.

Ms. McKenna has been writing about women and children’s issues for 15 years. Before joining the Women's Commission, Ms. McKenna was a writer for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Other experience includes: working as a press officer for the European Women's Lobby, a reporter for United Press International in London, associate editor for Inside Washington Publishers in Washington, D.C., and a researcher for CNN International in London.

She is currently an on-call public affairs volunteer for the American Red Cross. An avid runner, Ms. McKenna has completed five marathons. Ms. McKenna has a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
