As senior policy counsel for the Center for Victims of Torture’s Washington DC office, Melina Milazzo conducts advocacy on U.S. detention and interrogation policies respecting human rights, humane treatment of detainees in U.S. custody, and securing accountability for past torture and abuse of detainees in U.S. custody. Prior to joining CVT, Ms. Milazzo was Advocacy Counsel with the Law and Security Program at Human Rights First where she focused on U.S. national security policies and human rights advocacy.

Prior to law school, Ms. Milazzo spent several years as a research assistant at the Latino Mental Health Research Program at the University of California San Francisco. She received her law degree and B.A. from Florida State University College of Law. Ms. Milazzo is admitted to practice law in the State of New York
