Melinda Morris

Melinda Morris grew up in the special event industry creating custom invitations. From the age of nine, she began assisting with event décor and selling custom invitations in her parents’ stationery business. After a career as a non-profit event planner, Melinda returned to the world of invitations and stationery design and opened Lion in the Sun of Park Slope in 2002. This eclectic award winning Brooklyn paperie, has become a neighborhood go-to for a well-curated collection of fine paper, unique cards and gifts, and outstanding original custom printing and design. In 2010 Melinda and her husband launched PostScript Brooklyn, an exclusive custom invitation line highlighting unique urban inspired designs created by local independent designers. The experience and expertise of Lion in the Sun has been recognized in the industry’s best publications including: Brides Magazine, Bridal Guide, The Knot’s Best of Wedding Vendors for 2010, Style Me Pretty. Most recently, Melinda was featured as Expert Stationer in New York Magazine’s Fall wedding issue. Lion in the Sun has also been voted among the best New York Stationery stores by Time Out New York and Top 25 National Retailer by Gifts and Decorative Accessories Magazine.
