Melissa Smith is a New Orleans-based archivist, historian, and sportswriter for www.chicksinthehuddle.com. She received her B.A. in history from Loyola University of New Orleans with a specialty in African American history and women’s history. She received her M.A. in history from the University of New Orleans with a focus on the Jim Crow era in New Orleans. Her first book, Historic Photos of New Orleans, was published in 2007 to positive reviews and her latest book, Remembering New Orleans was published in mid-2010. She currently works as a consultant for Levees.org, a New Orleans-based watchdog organization, the Latin American Library at Tulane University, and performs archival organizing and historical writing for individuals and organizations. Other than stalking the Saints, Melissa loves spending time with her six-year old son, James and volunteers for the Louisiana State Museum.
