Michael Gene Sullivan is an veteran actor, writer, and director who has performed or had his work performed around the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. (I know, it's part of Asia. But for some reason people like to set it apart.) In addition to his work with regional theaters he is a member of "America's foremost theatre of political comedy," the Tony award winning San Francisco Mime Troupe, (No, not that kind of mime!) where he has written, performed and/or directed over twenty productions.

He's also the author/performer of the one person show Did Anyone Ever Tell You - You look Like Huey P. Newton?, and the stage adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, which opened at the Actor's Gang Theatre in 2006, directed by Tim Robbins, and has toured nationally and internationally.

That's about it, except to say his wife,Velina Brown is a brilliant hottie, his son, Zachary, wants to be Ben Ten, and that Michael is tired of patiently waiting for the Revolution.

The Prince and the Wise Man

Posted September 6, 2009 | 08:59 PM (EST)

That President Obama always seems surprised the right wing will do anything to destroy him reminds me of an old story.

A Prince, in torn and tattered clothes, falls at the feet of an old, wise man.

"Wise Man," he says, "my enemies have destroyed me! And...

Part one of a four-part series in which Michael makes it clear why he's never been invited to a corporate brunch -- but he's not bitter.

What exactly is capitalism?

Some say it's the highest, most elegant economic structure upon which robust wealth for all can be built. Others...

Dateline. Washington, D.C.

Bigfoot. The Loch Ness Monster. Batboy. Throughout time there have always been those who insist they have seen mythical creatures, people who swear to the existence of phenomenon for which scientists say there is no tangible evidence, only hearsay, fable, legend.

But unlike the Abominable Snowman,...

The following is my speech to the Theater Bay Area Annual Conference in San Francisco, Oct 6, 2008:

700 billion dollars. 700 billion dollars... billion.... There are fewer than 7 billion people on Earth. So 700 billion means more than $100 for every man, woman and child on the planet.

Barack Obama is the President -- Why are Black People Still So Mad?

A calm day. A sunny, day, for San Francisco - which means really foggy with what will ultimately be an unfulfilled promise of sun later. A nice day, when exposing the unfathomable idiocy that emanates from the Oval Office, or condemning the brutal criminality of corporate privateers ravaging our nation...

A Fable

Laconic, I'm not. Oh, I try, but get me started on politics, and how our proto-Fascistic overlords are trying to squeeze the last drops of worth from the working class as we blindly and passionately fight about God, gays, guns, and which millionaire we will elect to crush our dreams...
