Michael Immerso is a writer, cultural historian, and social activist. He is the author of Coney Island: The People’s Playground (2002) and Newark’s Little Italy: The Vanished First Ward (1997), both published by Rutgers University Press. In 1997 he wrote and co-produced the PBS documentary Newark’s Little Italy based on his book. A native of Newark, New Jersey, he presently resides in Lunenburg, Massachusetts.
