If director Phillip Noyce is to be believed, certain human experiments conducted in the last dark days of the KGB are beginning to hatch, and the recent bust of 11 suspected Russian spies is just the tip of a sinister iceberg. In Salt, Angelina Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, an unstoppable CIA operative with the martial skills of Jason Bourne and the controlled sultry heat of, well, Angelina Jolie. When she's outted as a sleeper Russian agent planted to assassinate the President -- or is she? -- we're whisked onto a roller-coaster summer thriller that toys with identity, political paranoia, early child training, and the psychology of national allegiance... but with enough spy games and gender-bending combat to spark adrenalin at big-box-office levels. In the video below, Noyce talks about working with Jolie, and why the film is close to reality.
