Michael R. Liebling, M.D. recently retired as Chief of Rheumatology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has authored or co-authored more than 30 papers and book chapters, as well as 50 scientific abstracts. Dr. Liebling was on the editorial board of the journal Molecular Biotechnology and lectured extensively in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

When Mickey was in college, he couldn't decide whether he wanted to go into biochemistry or political science. He finally chose to do a little of both and became a physician. Although he graduated with a degree in biochemistry, he never really lost his interest in political science and is presently completing a book, Experimental Democracy: A System of Governance for the Twenty-First Century.

Dr. Liebling presently resides in Florence, Oregon, 200 feet from the ocean with two dogs and plenty of time to think.
