He eats arugula. He looks great in a suit. He's not a good bowler. He asked for orange juice instead of coffee in that diner. He is educated, well-read, articulates himself brilliantly and doesn't lose his temper. What an arrogant prick this guy is.
If you're rejecting Obama because he's "an elitist," then I'd like to ask you to turn in your passport and leave the country immediately. The smart people would like it back.
If after seven years of the schmuck you want to have a beer with you've found yourself longing for the good old todays, you're just a retard. You heard me. Send me all the angry notes you want because you've had seven years of that neighborly fella who pretends to clear brush on his "ranch," seven years of that regular guy who praises the Pope by saying (and I'm not making this up), "Awesome speech, Your Holiness," seven years of that down-to-earth C-student who doesn't read the paper or use words with more than two syllables, and seven years of the kind of macho swagger that should be reserved for old John Wayne movies and the occasional aging porn star, and you still want more of that everyman horseshit. If that's true then you deserve everything you get. The problem is that the rest of us don't.
If after seven years of joining the rest of the world in ridiculing your own president (the one who promised to bring integrity back to the White House) and living with the results of regular guyness -- a swirling toilet of an economy and a war without end -- you still reject a candidate because he did well on his SAT score, you've just plain overstayed your welcome. Please. I beg you. Move to a country where mediocrity is applauded. Like Texas.

Some times I like orange juice in the morning instead of coffee. Want the sugar rush. Plus the man needs his vitamin C to keep up on the trail. Cut the man some slack.
Agreed. Coffee blows, even in Seattle. Not enough sugar in the world to make it taste good. I like to start the morning with a diet coke, nice and frozen, but not so frozen that it bubbles out of the can, but not so unfrozen that it is still runny. Wow, the media would love watching me order a drink.
Well said. The Communists in the Soviet Union learned that the proletariat is incapable of governing and leading. No offense to factory workers ( I respect everyone who earns an honest living ), but I don't want this country to be led by one.
I hope all the hypocrites are satisfied. No one says anything more about McCain's relationship with Reverend Hagee and his hateful statements about Jews and Catholics but they make a big deal about an old egomaniac and what he says ( NOT what Obama says ). No one says anything more about Hillary's outright lie about Bosnia.
Hypocrisy ... an integral part of our political process is alive and well.
haha -this is great!
The U. S. needs instant credibility with the world once this election is finished. Please research the world's opinion and interest in Obama. I'm ready to vote for the smart guy the world will respect.
Exactly. Hillary has done damage with her reckless saber rattling. That story appeared in the media all over the world. We would not be safe with her in office. It is very important that we have someone who is respected.
You make an excellent point that is often overlooked. Do we want our respect in the world back or don't we? Wasn't it nice when the world liked us? And turned to us for comfort, guidance, and aid? Wasn't it better when we weren't reviled?
President Carter, speaking to Matthews (I know, ugh!) made it very clear today where the world stands.
I agree with the post, but what's really stupid is that being smart or liking something other than bowling makes you an elitist.
o-be-non-e litist is ridiculous. My in-law went to her high school. She did not live in a working class neighborhood, it was upperclass and she lived in one of the priciest houses in a pretty upper-end neighborhood. I'm pretty sure this is right not only because my in-law says so. My in-laws family lived in the same neighborhood and his father was a wealthy doctor who was Frank Lloyd Wright's physician.
Hillary's campaign-t
And that means what to whom? And we should care why?
If Obama is going to lose because he is the elitist (not that this is the right test), shouldn't we know who the real elitist is?
Follow the logic...
Because HIllary's doing the log-cabin thing, that's why. She's rewriting her own history, trying to impress us with the little girl learning to blow living things away from her loving grampa. I could vomit....o r cry.
jazzylady26--I care...I think it's an intersting point. The Clintons are geniuses at systematic manipuliation of the ill informed and the ignorant. Anyone who believes that the Clintons feel your pain is delusional. They're both hustlers and whores who have had their day in the sun. The don't know how to age gracefully.
That means precisely that she is, in effect, lying when she stresses the hardscrabble Scranton connection and pulls the shot and a beer act. She was most definitely relatively privileged, according to her pretty sympathetic biography by Carl Bernstein.
Why you should care is that she pretended to be someone she is not -- they both try that now and again, but her attempts are to me pretty egregious.
Just to clarify, I don't think the who's elitist/ who isn't elitist argument matters a bit. My point is that Hillary's argument is not only silly but based on an inaccurate portrayal of her upbringing. Trust me, I do not think there is anything wrong with a family providing a good life for their children. But she reminds me of Vanilla Ice with this disingenuous "street cred" argument of hers.
Just to extend the point a bit, does it seem silly to anyone else that her working class upbringing is evidenced by the humbleness of her family's SECOND home?
I want to vote for someone smarter than me. Hillary and the media is making such a big deal about white, uneducated in the rut workers that is hilarious. Do we want another 4 - 8 years of Sat. Night Life? Btw, do you know that every other world leaders are laughing at us because of Bush?
Glad someone thinks the same way I do about "I want someone smarter than me as president". The heck with who I'd rather have a beer with, look what that got us!
Ditto and beyond.
Michael, this is the best takedown of the strawman charge of "elitism" since Get Your War On put it in crystal clear perspective:

"If being an elitist just means 'not the dumbest motherfucker in the room', I'll be an elitist."
Perfect.
Ha. That was awesome.
Thank you. Proud to support the smart guy....wit h integrity.

Obamacans you are all welcome at RALPH NADER 2OO8.

Really? that's the best you can do?? summon up the Ralph Nader Express???
t we all just admit we want someone way smarter at the helm?? Me--I want the REALLY SMART guy running the show. I have had it with morons--the presidency is no place for a Peter Principle to exist!!!!
Come on....can'
Oh, then you're not voting for Obama.
Tank you for the offer, but we already have decided to vote for Obama.
