The McCain campaign has now said publicly that they don't think Sarah Palin should have to answer any questions from the media. Since a free press is the only way the People can ask the questions we have a right to know, maybe the media should stop granting access to McCain "spokesmen" until their candidate for Vice President of The United States answers some questions. There are legitimate questions to be asked and, as one of The People, I'd like to start with the following:
1 - Did you really ban books from that library up there? Did you fire a librarian over it? Can you tell us your feelings about censorship in a democracy?
2 - Did you really tell the secessionist group in Alaska that they were doing great work? This same group whose leader said in an interview that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government?"
3 - Did you abuse the governor's office by trying to get your brother-in-law fired from the state police?
4 - Exactly what is it about Alaska's "proximity to Russia" that qualifies as "foreign policy experience?"
5 - When Campbell Brown on CNN asked McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds to name one decision that you made concerning the Alaska National Guard that qualifies you for the office you seek, why is that considered "over the line?" Do the People no longer have the right to know the candidates' qualifications before electing them to office?
6 - When you say that the Iraq war is a mission from God, what exactly do you mean? And which God are we talking about? Exactly how far does that God want us to go? When does God think we should withdraw? What does God think about the war in Afghanistan? Russia? China? Does God have any thoughts on the housing crisis?
7 - When you said in your acceptance speech that, "Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's [Obama's] worried that someone won't read them their rights," are you suggesting that we should suspend the use of Miranda Rights for anyone deemed by the government to be a terrorist? What legal process would deem an arrested individual a "terrorist?" What other basic rights do you feel should be abolished in the "War on Terror?"
8 - What are your thoughts about the separation of church and state? When you say you want to teach "creationism" in schools, what other elements of Christianity should be taught in schools? In order to design that curriculum, would priests have to be put on our school boards? Should any other religions be taught in school? Judaism? Islam? Buddhism? Or do the children growing up in those households not have the same rights as the ones growing up in yours? Should Christianity also be incorporated into the offices of government?
Readers, if you have any more questions you'd like to be answered, please post them in the comments. You are The People, you have a right to know. Anyone that tells you that you don't have a right to know should clarify exactly what they mean by the freedom they will defend with their very last breath.

A few thoughts: Pit Bulls and Doberman are responsible for the majority of fatal attacks on children by dogs. From my own experience with them, a Pit Bull can't be trusted to obey his/her master. Incidentally, the Association of Pit Bull Owners has objected to the bad image being given Pit Bulls by the McCain Campaign.
dhinds
What dogs have to do with this discussion escapes me, but I take exception to your inaccurate characterization of both breeds of dog.
The majority of fatal attacks on children by any certain breed of dog has more to do with a) which breeds of dog are currently in fashion and therefore most numerous, and, b) the mis-use of those breeds of dog by humans. And in the case of Doberman, in recent years and even decades, numbers of deaths and attacks on children are way down mostly because that breed has not been in vogue since the early 80's.
Anything with teeth can and will bite. Including humans. Children being killed by dog attack is not a dog problem, it's a people problem. For accurate dog behavior and training information, watch the TV "Dog Whisperer" Caesar Milan.
I would like to know Sarah Palin's platform on the following issues: Civil Rights, Crime, Drugs, Education, Environment, Families/Children, Foreign Policy, Free Trade, Gun Control, Campaign Finance Reform, Healthcare, Homeland Security, Defense Spending, Torture, Immigration, Jobs, Social Security, Tax Reform, Technology, War & Peace, Iran, Iraq Welfare, Poverty.
If you could also ask her why she continues to rattle off lies like:
- The bridge to nowhere/being the champion of reform (she is on the record to Fairbanks Daily news explaining that she is following direction FROM Congress and the Bush Administration who informed her that federal spending would be cut).
- What about in 2 yrs she has requested over $750 million in earmarks for Alaska (if she tries to compare to Obama - please remind her the pop. difference of Illinois/Alaska. Illinois is 18.8 times the size of Alaska).
- Ask her what she thinks about the21st century GI bill. Then ask her if she wants to retract her statement about Harry Reid (whom she mocked as "the majority Leader of the current "Do nothing senate") - the senate that passed the GI bill.
- Ask her why fake soldiers in the RNC video and the wrong Walter Reed?
- Ask her for a public apology to community organizers whom she mocked as lacking responsibility.
- Ask her about the legislation that Obama did write: He sponsored over 820 bills, he authored 152 bills during his 1st yr/ co-sponsored another 427.
Tell her/Nancy Wallace -America Cares, that's who!
Well said! This is exactly what I have been saying: Isn't it sexist to think that because she's a woman that she needs to be shielded from the public? As if she's some fragile creature. Also, as if she's so stupid, she needs to be told what to say and what not. To watch all of this makes it seem as if she doesn't have a mind of her own, and saddest, that McCain and men feel that women really are not capable of running the country. Although, of coursse we are, she's just not the right woman. She obviously doesn't know that she's being used, and that she's fallen right into their hands. Worst of all, women and Americans appear to believe also, and have fallen into the hype. All common sense seems to have been thrown out of the window. Pit Bull?! you're now showing your true colors. You're acting like a wimp. Step up to the plate and be a real woman. Face us like a true candidate should. When you find the courage to do so, then you'll meet the real pit bulls!
At some point you want to lighten the mood, no? So I suggest this question for the good Governor of the Big State of Alaska:
"Do you now own, or have you ever owned, a pit bull? If yes, have you ever tried to put lipstick on him/her?"
That about sums up her candidacy, don't you think? I'd like to know the answer to the question in any case.
Obama/Biden '08
Here's a question: Is a woman candidate exempt from questioning because of her gender? Is it sexism when tough questions about issue positions and qualifications are asked of a female candidate, when no one would blink an eye if the same questions were asked of a male candidate? Isn't that hypocritical? Does that mean that other candidates who belong to groups subjected to discrimination (you know, African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Gays/Lesbians, the physically challenged, seniors, etc.) should gain the same exemption? How does that double standard move forward women's rights? Why are Joe Biden's issue positions and qualifications fair game for questioning but not yours? Why can you insult and demean Barack Obama's past as a community organizer but not allow commentary on your term as Wasilla mayor, where your duties were to vote in case of a tie and cut ribbons, a job you yourself said wasn't brain surgery?
The press' solution to the Palin Press Blackout is very simple: make McCain/Palin's no-access/no-response the story.
Go live on air and provide video of a reporter asking VP Palin a question and being ignored or brushed off instead of answered. Have the anchor simply say, "We've repeatedly contacted VP Palin/her staff to ask her position on this issue but they have yet to respond". Accompany it with a story covering the issue in depth, and wrap it up with the "no response" statement. Include interviews with anguished and affected citizens, and ask them what they think about Palin's "no response".
And do it over, and over, and over, until an answer is delivered. And then follow up the answer with more questions. And do it for EVERY major issue.
Of course, it might also stir up MSM's corporate sustainers (nice way of putting it), which is why we probably won't see an effective press response to the Palin Press Blackout.
We don't really have a free press any more, which is in many ways, the bigger issue.
Yes. I have many questions for Ms. Palin, but here's the one that keeps coming to the front burner:
You and I are both for "family values", and, I don't know about you, Ms.Palin, but I'm pissed by this country's abysmal lack of support for families.
Across Europe, extended families keep in close touch by frequent visits via an extensive, inter-modal, trans-continental and to some degree, trans-hemispherical, inexpensive public transit system. And they're family-friendly.Trains often even have "family cars" with playpens for babies!
Contrast that with my children now not even REMEMBERING their late, doting grandfather because he stopped being able to visit often when he stopped driving. Had there been a conveniently located Amtrack which connected with a bus system, he could have visited more often. Instead we were limited to a few visits a year to his place the last few years of his life.
So, since effective public transit unquestionably pulls hard-working American families like mine together, what will you do to stand one up?
If my husband and I have to stop driving in the coming years, will we be able to use a public transit system to visit our grandkids often enough that they'll at least remember us?
Perhaps Charlie at ABC could use the 8 questions above!
I think every one with a vested interest in this election should flood ABC News Comments section with questions we want answered from Sarah Palin. Make it clear that we want real answers to the real concerns about this womens beliefs.
Will teaching creationism in schools help our scientists figure out the causes of global warming and how to deal with it?
Is it too late for the chief creationist to create a new set of republican candidates for us?
I have known many people who hear the voice of god. Does she really belong to one of those churchs where they speak gibberish and roll around on the floor? Dilantin, lithium and maybe a little phenol barbitol can help with that, really. Where are the calls for her to disavow her pastor who hates America so perfectly? Surely the Republicans dont hold a double standard, do they. And how about the Repub's running a seccessionist sympathyzer? What is with that? Oh, I know. I shouldn't be so sarcastic. It isn't America they hate. It's just the government and everything it stands for.
Since the Reagan revolution, when we elected people whose first principle is hating government, we should not be surprised at the savings and loan debacle, Enrom, Worldcom, the plundering of pension plans and the mortgage crisis. It is all part of the deregulation get the government off my back plan. Not been screwed to your satisfaction? Vote McCain/ Palin.
This is an excellent collection of good questions that will never be asked by the timid media.
Where'd ya get the stupid lookin' haircut?
Gov Palin's religious beliefs states that a person is saved once baptized. So in effect she believes that John McCain is going to hell because reports say he has never been baptized. Talking about sleeping with the devil.
How do you propose we undo the damage that has been done to our country in the last 8 years??
Well for starters, I wouldn't give 4 more years to the same party that created the mess of the last 8 years- would you hand a fireman a can of gas while he's trying to put out a fire???
Same logic
