8 Questions for Palin -- If You Really "Work For Me," Then Interview for the Job

The McCain campaign has now said publicly that they don't think Sarah Palin should have to answer any questions from the media. Since a free press is the only way the People can ask the questions we have a right to know, maybe the media should stop granting access to McCain "spokesmen" until their candidate for Vice President of The United States answers some questions. There are legitimate questions to be asked and, as one of The People, I'd like to start with the following:

1 - Did you really ban books from that library up there? Did you fire a librarian over it? Can you tell us your feelings about censorship in a democracy?

2 - Did you really tell the secessionist group in Alaska that they were doing great work? This same group whose leader said in an interview that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government?"

3 - Did you abuse the governor's office by trying to get your brother-in-law fired from the state police?

4 - Exactly what is it about Alaska's "proximity to Russia" that qualifies as "foreign policy experience?"

5 - When Campbell Brown on CNN asked McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds to name one decision that you made concerning the Alaska National Guard that qualifies you for the office you seek, why is that considered "over the line?" Do the People no longer have the right to know the candidates' qualifications before electing them to office?

6 - When you say that the Iraq war is a mission from God, what exactly do you mean? And which God are we talking about? Exactly how far does that God want us to go? When does God think we should withdraw? What does God think about the war in Afghanistan? Russia? China? Does God have any thoughts on the housing crisis?

7 - When you said in your acceptance speech that, "Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's [Obama's] worried that someone won't read them their rights," are you suggesting that we should suspend the use of Miranda Rights for anyone deemed by the government to be a terrorist? What legal process would deem an arrested individual a "terrorist?" What other basic rights do you feel should be abolished in the "War on Terror?"

8 - What are your thoughts about the separation of church and state? When you say you want to teach "creationism" in schools, what other elements of Christianity should be taught in schools? In order to design that curriculum, would priests have to be put on our school boards? Should any other religions be taught in school? Judaism? Islam? Buddhism? Or do the children growing up in those households not have the same rights as the ones growing up in yours? Should Christianity also be incorporated into the offices of government?

Anyone that tells you that you don't have a right to know should clarify exactly what they mean by the freedom they will defend with their very last breath.

Addendum to the secessionist question: why did you wear an Alaskan state flag pin and not an American flag pin? (And for McCain, where's his flag pin?) Are you patriotic for Alaska or the US? [They want to make a big deal of Obama not wearing one for awhile, slap it back at them. Palin should be familiar with a slapshot.]

Also:

--You said in a recorded interview that you didn't know what the job of the VP was. Do you know now? Do you know that you must serve all Americans and not just the interests of Alaska?

--Given the controversial statements by your pastor, do you denounce and reject him?

--Why is your campaign now attempting to stall the ethics investigations, with witnesses refusing to cooperate which requires subpoenas now, where before you were the nominee you said you would cooperate fully?

--What is your honest opinions about community organizers? Do you realize that some of those people are those that got you the right to vote - Susan B. Anthony - as well as civil rights for blacks - Martin Luther King Jr.? Do you regret and denounce the derision your party has given to these people?

--If you became president, would you enforce your personal beliefs on abortion on those you would choose for the Supreme Court? If Roe v. Wade was overturned, would you push for legislation to enforce your personal beliefs on others?

How could you justify spending millions on a sports complex in a town without a sewer system or decent roads?

Why did you leave the town in debt?

Why do you still say you sold that plane on E-Bay, when you didn't and you lost money when it was sold to the State?

During your 2002 Lt. Governor bid, did you use the city personnel, equipment and other Wasilla city facilities to run that campaign, including using the Fax number of the city hall as your 'registrant' number....?

I love that question. But you do know, do you not, that the whole demeaning vibe on community organizers, was all about how they are linked in public consciousness with civil rights, so it's a racist dogwhistle.

Mrs. Palin you claim that you said and I quote "I said thanks but not thanks to that bridge to know where, if we wanted a bridge we would have built it ourself." It has been proven that you acctepted 320 million dollars for the bridge to know where, then when it became a serious issue you choose to be against it. What made you change your mind from your original stance on the bridge to know where. And since you did not give any of the earmarked money back, what did you do with the 320 million.

That is what I want asked and answered.

There has to be more than this; they have to be called on their issues. Not only which Republican heads are going to roll when they get in there, which since they promised that, needs specification, but does she or doesn't she believe that windfall taxes on gas companies are appropriate for their ticket? What exactly does she mean when she says she'll be a friend of parents of children with special needs when she vetoed aid to such parents in her own state that is currently running on budget surpluses. Ditto that for funding to address the problem of pregnant teens. And then she needs to explain in specific dollars and cents, including the piffling tax credit, but how much assistance will be given so that all Americans can access health care; at the very least what she thinks should be done for those working families with pre existing conditions who are locked out of the health care system? Does she think that the tax breaks for corporations who export jobs should be continued?

The MO of the Republican party is always big talk--big talk express--the bait and switch of conservatism; this needs to be exposed not just by counter claims; the populace and the media need to hold them to their talk and demand that they spell out the details. Winning at home is always easy, but winning on the road is championship play.

1. You could have cleared up the questions about baby Trig by releasing your medical records. Why did you instead chose to embarrass your daughter by announcing her pregnancy so early on? Is this good judgement? Are you willing to release your medical records for review as is customery in any vetting process? Don't you believe the public has a right to know if you have ever had cancer, etc.
2. Anne Kilkenny reports that when you took the position of mayor, the town had a 0 deficit. When you left office, the deficit was $19+ million. Is this true? Kilkenny says that instead of running up the deficit by repairing the infrastructure of the town, you chose to build a new sports stadium? Does this show good judgement?
3. Kilkenny reports that you were doing such a bad job as mayor that an administrator had to be hired to handle much of the work. Is this true?
4. If you can't stand up to being questioned by the media and the American public, then why should anyone believe you can handle the job of being either Vice President or President?
5. Kilkenny reports that she routinely attended city council meetings when you were mayor so she knows you well. She says that you have people running scared to speak up about you because you are well know for firing and hurting anyone who doesn't support you. Is this how you will function in the White House?
