8 Questions for Palin -- If You Really "Work For Me," Then Interview for the Job

The McCain campaign has now said publicly that they don't think Sarah Palin should have to answer any questions from the media. Since a free press is the only way the People can ask the questions we have a right to know, maybe the media should stop granting access to McCain "spokesmen" until their candidate for Vice President of The United States answers some questions. There are legitimate questions to be asked and, as one of The People, I'd like to start with the following:

1 - Did you really ban books from that library up there? Did you fire a librarian over it? Can you tell us your feelings about censorship in a democracy?

2 - Did you really tell the secessionist group in Alaska that they were doing great work? This same group whose leader said in an interview that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government?"

3 - Did you abuse the governor's office by trying to get your brother-in-law fired from the state police?

4 - Exactly what is it about Alaska's "proximity to Russia" that qualifies as "foreign policy experience?"

5 - When Campbell Brown on CNN asked McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds to name one decision that you made concerning the Alaska National Guard that qualifies you for the office you seek, why is that considered "over the line?" Do the People no longer have the right to know the candidates' qualifications before electing them to office?

6 - When you say that the Iraq war is a mission from God, what exactly do you mean? And which God are we talking about? Exactly how far does that God want us to go? When does God think we should withdraw? What does God think about the war in Afghanistan? Russia? China? Does God have any thoughts on the housing crisis?

7 - When you said in your acceptance speech that, "Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's [Obama's] worried that someone won't read them their rights," are you suggesting that we should suspend the use of Miranda Rights for anyone deemed by the government to be a terrorist? What legal process would deem an arrested individual a "terrorist?" What other basic rights do you feel should be abolished in the "War on Terror?"

8 - What are your thoughts about the separation of church and state? When you say you want to teach "creationism" in schools, what other elements of Christianity should be taught in schools? In order to design that curriculum, would priests have to be put on our school boards? Should any other religions be taught in school? Judaism? Islam? Buddhism? Or do the children growing up in those households not have the same rights as the ones growing up in yours? Should Christianity also be incorporated into the offices of government?

Anyone that tells you that you don't have a right to know should clarify exactly what they mean by the freedom they will defend with their very last breath.

When you consider the opportunity and power Palin had to really give a great speech to some 40 million Americans, to portray her vision and leadership, and then look at the hollow, nasty, speech she delivered, targeted to those attending the hall, to the converted, you realize the mess she made of it instead.

4. Why did you hire a lobbying firm as Mayor of Wasilla?
5. Isn't the lobbying firm you hired tied to Jack Abramoff?

You claim to oppose the crooked Alaska Republican machine but you ran a 527 for Stevens and did a campaign ad with him. For the machine, or against?

How will you win moderates, when you’re an evangelical who opposes gay rights, all abortion, stem-cell research, fixing our health care system, evolution, sex education…you campaigned for Buchanan, you think global warming is a hoax, and joined an secessionist party that hates America?

You don’t know that the vice president does, or what’s up in Iraq; how could you be trusted as president?

Would you be comfortable handling government projects, after getting embroiled in legal trouble building a sports complex on someone else’s land, then invested a million dollars in a business which the experts told you was doomed?

How much did you increase taxes in Wasilla?

What would you say to those who have criticized your ruthlessness, firing people whom you suspected of disloyalty, firing a guy for dating a friend of your husband’s, trying to fire a librarian because she wouldn’t ban books, campaigning against your own mother-in-law?

Will you apologize for laughing as the Alaskan Senate President, a cancer survivor, was called a cancer and a bee-yoch?

Why are you blocking the investigation into Troopergate...why did you illegally release records of the policeman in question?

#9 I don't know your writing or speech style so did you write the speech last week? If not did you read it before hand? And if you did, did you not find it somewhat offensive in compare yourself and other hockey moms to pit bulls? Did it consider changing the wording?
#10 I've seen recently where you suggested that the war on Iraq was a task from G*D? Can you explain why this task, which is known to have come about through the lies of the current President (Iraq with Al Queda were responsible for 9/11) and forgeries (the letter that was paid for suggesting Saddam was suporting Al Queda) is G*D sanctioned?
#11 After the stock market debacle that has lost plenty of small investors plenty of money, do you support John McCain's idea to privatize Social Security by allowing for the investment of one's ulitmate payout to be invested in the stock market?
#12 OF all the people in the republican party with more experience than you as a politcal figure, why are you sinularly qualified to represent the multi hued, multi cultural, multi faithed nation of ours?
#13 Bonus question: Have you started planning your daughter's wedding and what will she or her husband do to earn a living after they are married and the baby comes? I'd assume that as newlyweds they'd no longer be covered by your health insurance after the two events.

I would ask how does she feel throwing her 17 year old daughter under the scrutiny of the MSM, instead of taking so many other ways to prove the rumors wrong about herself. That really bothers me.

But the MSM have proven to us, that intelligent questions mentioned before me, are just not worth it. They have proven to us, that only ratings are important. Not the truth.

First of all, GREAT QUESTIONS! That being said, I am a disabled person who hates cable and network news. I have been watching anyway since the accusations leveled at the media by the repubes. I am not confident that any of them will be asking any tough questions of McCain or Palin.

It appears that there are no democratic pundits even being allowed to counter republican campaign spokespersons AT ALL at this point. I cannot believe I am watching this happen. I am becoming not scared, but repulsed, disappointed, disillusioned that it seems that there is now only one party in America. At least by looking at any of the news since Saturday.

This is beyond reprehensible. I have read and am now hearing that there will be MAJOR PROBLEMS with ABSENTEE BALLOTS being counted. Democrats on blogs have been shouting vote by absentee ballot or early voting depending on your state's options. However, it seems now that there will be major numbers of these ballots held up or not counted at all.

I really am ready to cry. If America stays on this current path and the election is once again rigged for the Repubes everything that Democrats stand for will be extinguished, at least in Washington. And definitely in the Media. We won't hear any dissent or opposing opinions.

Actually, the separation of church and state is not part of the Constitution. The First Amendment reads,
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
