8 Questions for Palin -- If You Really "Work For Me," Then Interview for the Job

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

The McCain campaign has now said publicly that they don't think Sarah Palin should have to answer any questions from the media. Since a free press is the only way the People can ask the questions we have a right to know, maybe the media should stop granting access to McCain "spokesmen" until their candidate for Vice President of The United States answers some questions. There are legitimate questions to be asked and, as one of The People, I'd like to start with the following:

1 - Did you really ban books from that library up there? Did you fire a librarian over it? Can you tell us your feelings about censorship in a democracy?

2 - Did you really tell the secessionist group in Alaska that they were doing great work? This same group whose leader said in an interview that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government?"

3 - Did you abuse the governor's office by trying to get your brother-in-law fired from the state police?

4 - Exactly what is it about Alaska's "proximity to Russia" that qualifies as "foreign policy experience?"

5 - When Campbell Brown on CNN asked McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds to name one decision that you made concerning the Alaska National Guard that qualifies you for the office you seek, why is that considered "over the line?" Do the People no longer have the right to know the candidates' qualifications before electing them to office?

6 - When you say that the Iraq war is a mission from God, what exactly do you mean? And which God are we talking about? Exactly how far does that God want us to go? When does God think we should withdraw? What does God think about the war in Afghanistan? Russia? China? Does God have any thoughts on the housing crisis?

7 - When you said in your acceptance speech that, "Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's [Obama's] worried that someone won't read them their rights," are you suggesting that we should suspend the use of Miranda Rights for anyone deemed by the government to be a terrorist? What legal process would deem an arrested individual a "terrorist?" What other basic rights do you feel should be abolished in the "War on Terror?"

8 - What are your thoughts about the separation of church and state? When you say you want to teach "creationism" in schools, what other elements of Christianity should be taught in schools? In order to design that curriculum, would priests have to be put on our school boards? Should any other religions be taught in school? Judaism? Islam? Buddhism? Or do the children growing up in those households not have the same rights as the ones growing up in yours? Should Christianity also be incorporated into the offices of government?

Readers, if you have any more questions you'd like to be answered, please post them in the comments. You are The People, you have a right to know. Anyone that tells you that you don't have a right to know should clarify exactly what they mean by the freedom they will defend with their very last breath.

Why did you tell the citizens of Ketchikan that you were going to get them their bridge and said that you felt they were insulted by the term Bridge to Nowhere, tell them that they were being left out and then the moment you secured the governorship, you basically did exactly what you accused congress of doing?

How much does a gallon of stove oil cost in the winter? How much does a whole chicken cost? What have you done to aid Native Alaskans, specifically how have you assured them their SUBSISTENCE HUNTING AND FISHING RIGHTS? P.S. Thanks for the tip on AlaskanPerspective. Careful America--she's just another wolf in sheep's clothing. Doesn't have YOUR best interests at heart at ALL!!

What is your family's NET WORTH? Yours AND your husband's.
Define Rural. Define Non-rural. How does Wasilla qualify as either?
Name one thing that you did as Governor to improve the QUALITY of LIFE for ALL Alaskans. I'm not talking about oil and gas rebates. I'm talking about roads, schools, HEALTH CARE, Public Safety.
You have said that you would allow Constitutional Amendments to go before the people. You have also said that you, yourself, would personally vote against any proposed amendment that you personally were against. Does this mean that you would lend your name, title, position, office,and/or personal time to actively campaign AGAINST the measures you didn't like?
How are you viewed by Alaska's Native Population?
What is your family's NET WORTH? Yours and your husband's. I'm adding this again in case she skates over it the first time. I also want to SEE DOCUMENTATION!

I think you touched on the solution.

"The media" should give an absolute blackout to the McCain/Palin campaign.
No more coverage. No negative press, no positive press, nothing.

If they don't need the press, the press should show them the same regard.

Alaska receives money from oil and you were able to give your residents large sums of money. However, the United States have America has huge deficits. How do you plan to pay down that deficit.? From my observation, money is either taken from cuts in the budget or increased taxes. What programs in the budget would you cut? How would you increase taxes? What would you do about Social Security? Many homes are being foreclosed? How do you plan to help families who lost their home or do you plan to help them? Many of our military have served in Iraq three to four times. Are you and McCain going to send these people more times? What do you plan to do with the over stretched Army?

What is your family's net worth? I am talking about YOUR income and your husband's. THIS IS A PRIORITY QUESTION!
Is it true, that, as Governor of Alaska, you slashed a $62 million budget item for assistance and programs for special needs children, to $3 million?
How do you define Rural as opposed to non-Rural?
Name one thing that you have done for Alaska's Native population, BESIDES your famous oil and gas rebates. How have you improved the quality of life for all Alaskans?
You have said that you would allow Constitutional Amendments to 'go before the people'. You have also said that you would vote against the Amendments you were personally against. Does this mean that you would also lend your name, office, title, or your own time to an active campaign AGAINST those Amendments?
What is your family's NET WORTH? Yours AND your husband's. Just in case she weasels out on the first one-I'd keep hammering until I was either dragged from the room or got an answer, complete with documentation.

Here's one:

Have you figured out what a VP does and is it as 'fruitful' as the governorship in the 'country' of Alaska?

Apologies if you have seen this before, but if you haven't please sign & circulate. We are at 1400 signatures after 24 hours and hope for many more...

Please take the time to sign and help circulate this petition! The simple act of emailing/posting it helps build awareness that the McCain campaign is "hiding" her from direct questions.

Thanks in advance for any support you can provide.

Dear Senator McCain, Governor Palin and McCain campaign advisers:

We request you provide the citizens of the United States with the opportunity to see Governor Palin interviewed by a variety of news media outlets.

This election is a crucial one to us in terms of a wide range of domestic and foreign policy issues. Given the current concerns about numerous topics including health care, the rise in unemployment, the tense relations between Russia and Georgia, and the ongoing war in Iraq, it is neither sufficient nor acceptable that we hear Governor Palin's opinions and ideas only through pre-written speeches, press releases and select interviews with "soft" and "friendly" news sources such as People magazine and Fox News. Please note the term journalists (plural). We know after the gibson interview, the msg will be "there you go there's your interview. no more." One interview is not enough to address the scope and diversity of topics.

All the other candidates have been thru it .... why should she be exempt from the same scrutiny.

I have a few basic questions to add:

I have one to add to your eighth set of questions:
What should be done about people who do not espouse a religion?

On the Separation of Powers:
Do you believe in the theory of the unitary executive? What historical context supports or contradicts this theory?
What role do signing statements play in executing laws passed by Congress?

On the international front:
Do you know the difference between Sunni and Shia Muslims (and no help here from the Independent Senator from CT)? What are the political, historical, and cultural differences? In which countries do they live?

I have questions for McCain:
1. Why have you selected a secessionist as your mate?
2. Tell us about Mrs. Palin's grades in all 5 colleges.
3. Did you know about Mrs. Palin’s ethical problems and the actual investigation over allegations of illegal actions before you made your decision?

I don't know about number two. But number one has been proven false. And number three has been proven false. Nice try though.

When did your vetting process begin? What did it consist of? Who participated in it? Identify any issues you may not have mentioned, or been completely candid about with your interviewers, prior to your selection as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee.

Would you like to correct or clarify any misstatements from your first two nationally televised addresses on Friday, August 29th and Wednesday, September 3rd?

Prior to being selected by Senator McCain's campaign, what were your political career ambitions? What are they now?

Why did you recently file an ethics complaint against yourself in the state of Alaska? Was it an attempt to change, or influence, the already pending investigation by the Alaska legislature, which you are on record as promising to cooperate with? What is your position concerning the subpoenas now being issued to your administrative aides? Do you have any knowledge of when, why, and at whose instruction they reneged on earlier promises to testify voluntarily in the "Troopergate" investigation?

My question:
1. It has been reported , all of your advisors are or have been assoctiated with President Bush. As well as the lobbiest you hired for Wasilla was a former associate of Jack Abramoff and Ralph Reed. Your actions indicate to me you have deep ties to Big Money and the Administration of the Past Eight Years. How would you characterize your campaign statements that you will take on the Good Ol Boy's when elected, when your actions speak otherwise?

2. At the time you headed Senator Stevens "527", raising funds, did you utulize any of those funds in your campaign for Govonor?

3. Was your son Track involved in vandalizing a school property and damaging a school bus.

We're just seeing the tip of the iceberg on the Sarah Palin we in Alaska have been watching. There are more shoes to drop. Follow the show at www.alaskanperspective.com

Here are a few more questions:
- why do you think it's acceptable to hunt wolves from airplanes?
- what actual foreign policy experience do you have to bring to the office?
- what is your position on the multiple gun law issues such as assault weapons ban, gun show loopholes, 3 day waiting period, restrictions for mentally ill people, bullet id, consealed weapons permits
- is waterboarding torture? should the US use torture (and please don't give the ticking bomb answer)?

With your extremely limited experience in government, why are you so certain you have the knowledge, skills and temperment to succeed as vice-president, or president?

Was it your decision to avoid the press for such an extended period of time? If it was not your choice, who ordered you to hide?
