8 Questions for Palin -- If You Really "Work For Me," Then Interview for the Job

The McCain campaign has now said publicly that they don't think Sarah Palin should have to answer any questions from the media. Since a free press is the only way the People can ask the questions we have a right to know, maybe the media should stop granting access to McCain "spokesmen" until their candidate for Vice President of The United States answers some questions. There are legitimate questions to be asked and, as one of The People, I'd like to start with the following:

1 - Did you really ban books from that library up there? Did you fire a librarian over it? Can you tell us your feelings about censorship in a democracy?

2 - Did you really tell the secessionist group in Alaska that they were doing great work? This same group whose leader said in an interview that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government?"

3 - Did you abuse the governor's office by trying to get your brother-in-law fired from the state police?

4 - Exactly what is it about Alaska's "proximity to Russia" that qualifies as "foreign policy experience?"

5 - When Campbell Brown on CNN asked McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds to name one decision that you made concerning the Alaska National Guard that qualifies you for the office you seek, why is that considered "over the line?" Do the People no longer have the right to know the candidates' qualifications before electing them to office?

6 - When you say that the Iraq war is a mission from God, what exactly do you mean? And which God are we talking about? Exactly how far does that God want us to go? When does God think we should withdraw? What does God think about the war in Afghanistan? Russia? China? Does God have any thoughts on the housing crisis?

7 - When you said in your acceptance speech that, "Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's [Obama's] worried that someone won't read them their rights," are you suggesting that we should suspend the use of Miranda Rights for anyone deemed by the government to be a terrorist? What legal process would deem an arrested individual a "terrorist?" What other basic rights do you feel should be abolished in the "War on Terror?"

8 - What are your thoughts about the separation of church and state? When you say you want to teach "creationism" in schools, what other elements of Christianity should be taught in schools? In order to design that curriculum, would priests have to be put on our school boards? Should any other religions be taught in school? Judaism? Islam? Buddhism? Or do the children growing up in those households not have the same rights as the ones growing up in yours? Should Christianity also be incorporated into the offices of government?

Anyone that tells you that you don't have a right to know should clarify exactly what they mean by the freedom they will defend with their very last breath.

Michael, I understand she is going to be interviewed by Charlie Gibson. I suggest you send him these questions and make as much noise as possible on this site and elsewhere so he asks them and doesn't simply throw her the softballs she'll be prepared for.

Studies have shown that children born into poverty experience more abuse, have more learning difficulties, have more illnesses and more accidents than children born into higher socio-economic groups. Therefore how can Sarah Palin justify slashing funding for teenage mothers? Doesn't she care what happens to the fetus once it is delivered?

Are you going to adopt all the children born as a result of rape or incest because you wish to ban the right to a legal abortion? What if they weren't caucasian?

5. Your energy plan sounded familiar. Did you see Paris Hilton on YouTube?

1. As a Christian Fundamentalist who lives according to her faith, I assume that you will be abiding by the "women must submit to their husbands as the church submits to Christ" command.

a. Does this mean that all decisions must be run by your husband first? What happens if your husband completely disagrees with John McCain on an urgent national or international matter? Should we include your husband in the debates?

b. If you do not follow these words from God, why not? Have you chosen to disregard this little blurb in Ephesians while believing word-for-word the story of the creation of earth and man as written in Genesis?

2. What happens if you experience another high risk pregnancy in office and are ordered by your doctor to spend several months on bed rest? Ignoring these orders would result in the death of your unborn child, which I don't believe you would do because the life of the unborn child is paramount. How could you effectively do your job as VP? Or can you guarantee that you will not become pregnant?

3. There have been a few high-profile, almost fairy-tale teenage pregnancies as of late (Spears, Simpson etc). Many teenage girls may be looking at these pregnancies and thinking "that doesn't look like such a big deal...I could do that" and perhaps plan to become pregnant at a very young age. Do you plan to address this possibility?

Everyone's forgetting the biggest question of all: "According to the actuarial tables, John McCain has about a one-in-six chance of dying while in office. That means you would have a one-in-six chance of being president. What qualifies YOU to be president of the United States of America?"

Really, all opposition to Palin should be predicated on this idea: that she's running for REPLACEMENT PRESIDENT. Is this the person we want in charge?

Gov. Palin, in your acceptance speech, you demeaned Mr. Obama's work as a community organizer. In your mind, what is wrong with community organizing? How does that experience make Mr. Obama less qualified? Finally, do you think that community service is important? According to your standards, how should American citizens serve our country and each other?

I'd like to ask Gov. Palin: If you are so unfamiliar with foreign policy that you have to be tutored, why did you agree to run for vice president?

You say that we need change in Washington, and that you are qualified and prepared to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Yet you are being tutored by the Bush administration on foreign policy. Who is tutoring you? How do YOU know that what they are presenting to you represents the best understanding of foreign policy issues, given your own contention that there is need for change in Washington and the evident failures of the Bush administration?

Don't you think it is sexist and demeaning to you as the Governor of Alaska that the McCain camp will only let you speak to reporters who show the "proper respect and deference" which implies that you are just a "little woman that needs to be protected"?

I would add the question of is there any danger to the child if conceived and gestated during a mono infection. Why this has not been asked is amazing.
