Reading The Pictures: "Dollar Bill McCain"

... But what's really classic is that McCain put Obama's face on a dollar bill over a month ago!

Is the media buying McCain's story that Obama played the race card, using his description of McCain doing things analogous to putting his face on a dollar bill?  Of course, most everyone has taken it as an analogy and McCain, as well as some of the media, have been looking to crucify Obama for it.  The thing is, McCain actually DID put obama's face on a dollar bill -- over a month ago in a little-seen web video.  The point is, Obama's analogy -- whether he realized it or not, and maybe he heard about the video and only recalled it subconsciously -- isn't even an analogy, it's true!

Plus, Team McCain turned him pansy yellow, made him all starry-eyed, then blew him up.

(...And, I leave it to my sharp-eyed and photoshop-savvy readers to decide if those aren't X's embedded in that last frame, or maybe other weird stuff.  Not sayin', just wonderin'.)

Mr. Shaw, I see several things. In the yellowing, I see "Asianizin­g". I believe that's a message for other Vietname vets, to plant the idea of the "G" word. I see his imige "simianize­d" to a degree. I do see the "x" in the eyes. But more than that, I'd almost swear that especially in the eye on the right-hand side, there's the image of another face merged underlying it - it's a different eye, and I'm pretty sure it might be Charles Manson's. This whole thing is very disturbing­. Thank you for your work and insight.

Can I just say how much I LIKE seeing Obama on a dollar bill? All these silly McCain ads seem to achieve the opposite of his desired effect. Oh how terrible to choose a guy who 200,000 people will turn out to see. Oh how terrible to see American flags being waved in Europe. Oh how terrible to choose a president who can upstage Britney and Paris in the news. Oh how terrible to elect a leader who people look to with hope. Hey, McCain, look around, after 8 Bush years we NEED love and miracles and all you've got is war more years.

Plus also, what the Republican­s have done to make our money look funny and be worthless is what comes to mind when I see the Obama dollar. You seen the goofy looks on the big Lincoln, Hamilton, Jefferson, Franklin and Washington portraits on the new money? Is that botox that does that? Is that inflation? Is that like the marketing that gives us ever-shrin­king candybars? See, Monopoly money looks older and more trustworth­y now.

Actually your article is referenced on DailyKos, with another post more people need to know this exists, so much is hidden now in the MSM, this should be on the front page and in blaring print of the Huffington Post! I feel really sad for poor Cindy McCain who looked Ann Curry straight in the eye in early May, and assured her there would be NO NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNIN­G on their part... I think she really believed this.

But will Sean Hannity dogg her out for it?????

Jumping on the "Race" bandwagon is aweful in itself, but when you start it then blame your opponent for initiating it by mentioning it, you've gone too far!! And the American people deserve more credit than that!

This is major on so many levels, and I think MSM will have to report it, eventually at least. Who can deny that McCain's camp was actually doing the deed in question? As noted earlier, busted! Big time!

On top of that, I don't care what they had in mind when they made their little send-up, but it's like the Pope making Jewish jokes, it just doesn't work. No matter how you slice it, it comes off looking rac-ist, and that's a nasty, nasty blow to an already devastated campaign.

How much will it matter in the scheme of things, you just never know in this crazy world. But what I see is deeply damning, and I hope the rest of the world does, too.

I'm pretty sure they're aware of this ad. It's been posted on DailyKos, Crooks & Liars, Politico (small mention), Ezra Klein's blog, and other sites - though not very prominentl­y. The Obama campaign probably thinks that they should let the race card issue die over the weekend rather than continue to have people discuss it. As Chuck Todd and others have noted, any day in which RACE is the issue is not a good one for Obama.
