Michael T. Dan has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Brinks Co. since February 1998. Mr. Dan served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Brinks Home Security Holdings Inc. (formerly known as Brink's Home Security, Inc.).

He joined Brink's in 1982. Mr. Dan served as President of Armored Vehicle Builder, Inc. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Brink's Holding Company Inc. since December 31, 1995 and President and Chief Executive Officer of Brink's Inc. since July, 1993.

From August 1992 to July 1993, he served as President of North American operations of Brink's, Incorporated and as Executive Vice President of Brink's, Incorporated from 1985 to 1992. He served as President of Brink's, Incorporated from December 2002 until January 2004. He has been Chairman of the Board of Brinks Co. since January 1, 1999.

Mr. Dan has been a Director of Principal Financial Group Inc., since May 15, 2006 and its subsidiary Principal Life since May 16, 2006.

Mr. Dan is a member of the Business Roundtable and serves as sub-committee chairman on the Security Task Force. Mr. Dan has been Chair of the Partnership for Disaster Response at Business Roundtable since September 2008.

He studied business and accounting at Morton College in Cicero, Ill. and completed the advanced management program at Harvard Business School.

While disasters are inevitable, unfortunately, effective response to them isn't. With the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina upon us, we're reminded of the increasingly large role the private sector is playing in disaster relief worldwide, joining forces with nonprofit organizations to aid regions hit by natural and man-made disasters.
