Michael Tuts is a Professor of Physics at Columbia University, where he has been on the faculty since 1983. His research has focused on experimental high energy physics trying to unravel the nature of the elementary particles and the forces that govern them. In his career he has seen the field expand from experiments that had a few physicists to the current LHC experiments that have about 3,000 collaborators. The discoveries anticipated at the LHC make this one of the most interesting times to be a particle physicist. He is currently the Operations Program Manager for the US contingent on ATLAS. Tuts lives in NYC with his wife who is a musician –- a perfect blending of the Arts and Sciences.
