The president will do a series of interviews on Sunday with ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and Univision, culminating on Monday with an appearance as an exclusive guest on David Letterman. He is not, however, going on Fox News, and the network and many Republicans are spitting mad about this.
"If people are going to be on the Sunday talk shows, they should be on all of them," said Joe Wilson, now a famous Republican heckler because of his famous heckle last week.
Several other Republican congressmen huffed similarly.
Fox itself is now preparing to roll out a drumbeat of umbrage about its exclusion.
Who believes this stuff? Are there actually people who think Fox and the Republicans have taken offense? I suppose there must be.
It is a face-off, an elemental one, but it is not about media time or fairness. It's about who will bend first. It's a power struggle.

Cenk Uygur: Democrats Should Stay Off Fox Until It Confesses
Does anyone really believe that ACORN is the top story? Every day? Or is it possible that is Fox's obvious, ham-handed way of attacking the president daily? I can't believe we're having this argument.

Fox News is the hate channel for the party of Stupid. It has nothing to do with news--in fact, they are out orchestrating their own hate fests at 9/12 and "teabagging" events. It still seems lost on them that teabagging is a gay sex act!
Why should he expose himself to the their type of opposition. The way they report on him is hateful. Opposition is one thing, hate is another.
The Prez should absolutely NOT make any appearances on Fake News. If they truly offered real criticisms of his policies, that'd be acceptable. But the relentless campaign of hate against this President has its limits even with a man as mild-mannered and concilliatory as Obama.
So, I say to hell with Fake News and their fake outrage.
The teabaggers that watch fox didn't want their precious kids listening to the president give a do good in school speech so I'm sure they appreciate Obama NOT going on fox today.
Why appear on Fox? They are not relevant to anything!
may be the Australian boss of the FOXY NEWS got the message
Our new President got a pair....
Wasn't it faux news that refused to carry the Presidents speech to the nation?
The rethugs are getting what they want. And now they're complaining?
Spoiled children, all of them.
To be clear: Faux Gnus Sundae is primarily a product of the BROADCAST NETWORK, the one that regularly eschews (only pronounce the word 'eschew' into the elbow of your garment) Obama Press Conferences and Congressional speeches for game shows. Yes, 'FNS' reappears on the cable network, but only during low-viewership times and during the fall opposite futbol.
Here's an idea.
You want a POTUS interview on Fixed Noize.
Fire Beck....or better, make him apologize on air for his comments about Obama.
ditto
Go on, or send Joe Biden to go on, to Faux News and have him kick some Fox-Ass like Clinton did some years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5TkWGsmZF0

Right. Unleash Biden. He needs to take a couple Spiro Agnew pills and fight back against people who fight dirty. Democrats and liberals are too meek. Stand up to the bullies.
.
.
Spiro Agnew pills! Haaaa! You're killin' me.......
Focks Gnus is nothing but a straight up propaganda outlet for the RNC. Why would ANY self-respecting Democrat bother with them?
"Focks Gnus". Good one.
President Obama is correct in snubbing Fox News, even with the questionable assumption that this is a legitimate news organization. American conservatives might have some good ideas and legitimate grievances but they have been covered over by a thick veneer of crazy so how would anyone know? The unnamed Australian carpetbagger and his tv toadies have been instrumental in creating this situation. And they are the only ones who can change it.
Mr Wolff..' the republicans are spitting mad about this'- AND?!!! SO?!!!!
It's funny though, that the republicans don't get spitting mad about what they should be mad about, e.g their blind ideologies, which have not much to do with present day America, leading the weakminded more into the wilderness, opposing for the sake of it, their total disrespect and lack of lack etc........
Gee, it really doesn't matter too much what the republicans think, in any case! They had their time...and duped the nation. Next, moving along!
The President is right to NOT appear on Fox. Going on Fox would merely lend credibility to a network. that does not deserve any credibility. To most observers, Fox was a media arm of the McCain campaign last election. Fox has a well esteblished and well deserved reputation--among objective observers--for being a harshly partisan, right-wing media outlet. I notice CNN is launching ads countering Fox. It's about time; more networks should do this.
This is great news! News flash - Fox News isn't news!
Fox owner and the idiots he hires to spew the words of hate, corruption, devision, and all other things that are dishonest and bad, should be charged with and tried for treason.
Obama is right to snub this excuse for a news station. Fox News distorts the truth and never, ever reports anything in an unbiased way.
Down with Fox!
