Mr. Coleman Doesn't Go to Washington

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

What's got into Norm Coleman? His whole political career has been the slippery, cheesy-smile sort. He's changed parties, changed views, done whatever he had to do to get elected. You can't get more lightweight than Norm Coleman. His really big accomplishment was getting a professional hockey franchise in St. Paul when he was the mayor.

Except now his career-accomplishment is refusing, against all evidence and odds, to admit defeat to Al Franken in the Minnesota Senate race.

All of a sudden, he's an extreme, recalcitrant, crazy man. A martyr. A symbol. Mr. I'll-never-ever-not-today-not-tomorrow-give-up. He has gone from a man of infinite phony-baloney social charm to a demanding, insistent, miserably drunk guest who doesn't know when to leave.

A man who, not too long ago, would have done virtually anything to be liked, is now a national oddball.

Has he gone crazy (and will he ever stop being crazy)? Has the entire Republican Party, vested in his last stand, gone crazy--or is there an actual strategy here?

Election Contest is OVER.
It’s NOT an Election Contest, anymore!

It is a Bad Faith, GOP & Lobby-Funded, totally Un-American, Civil Rights Violating, Un-Constitutional, Perpetuation of a Major Fraud and a blatantly obvious multi-level Conspiracy to keep Al Franken tied-up in Litigation, while Governor Pawlenty keeps the Senate Seat Vacant for the GOP Senatorial Committee to capitalize on, who did everything but Earmark Stimulus money to pay-off all the alleged Conspirators.

All the talk and excuses are lies.
The reasons this works so well are: Coleman hates Al Franken and will go to Hell before he concedes. The GOP has the perfect Patsy for running the "Endless Litigation Delay" they have Coleman playing for the GOP.
But, it don't work unless Pawlenty is in it right up to his eyebrows.
Keeping a Senate seat Vacant during the turmoil of bringing-in the new Administration and then, continuing to leave the Seat Vacant while emergency legislation was being drafted and made Law in the Senate means one of two things.
Pawlenty is so stupid he should not be allowed to care for Goldfish.
Pawlenty is corrupt, in it for gain, and has been involved in the Conspiracy from the get-go!
This is, by far, the worst assault on Democracy from within the Government and if the alleged Conspirators are found to be guilty after an investigation they should be thrown in jail for keeps.

well...the more the Republicans act out in ever-more-extreme exaggerations of their previous exploits, the more obvious it is to the less-informed that indeed they were had. if the Coleman thing goes on much longer, the Republicans run the risk of exposing that original sin, of stealing the 2000 election.

That is why it might be a good thing if this goes to the supreme court.....more attention would be paid to the court-majority scam that got Bush into the White House in the first place. Gotta wonder why anybody still honors Sandra Day O'Connor. If one isn't prepared to sell one's soul to the devil, then one oughtn't to accept appointments as a conservative.
