California's Prop 8: Turns the Clock Backwards. Are We Ready for That?

If this is successful in California, civil and human rights are no longer safe in this country. This is not just about those liberals in the land of fruit and nuts. This proposition is discriminatory. It has very little to do with the Church, G-d or school children regardless of all the television infomercials. Prop 8 is an insidious attempt to turn back the clock, and not just to daily light savings time this weekend.

Remarkably, the polls are very, very close foreshadowing larger issues at play in this Election. And if that is true, we must stand together and fight these forces of hatred.

Prop 8 removes dignity and respect from an entire sector of our culture, and relegates them to second class citizenship. It harkens to a society that once again tolerates segregation, discrimination, racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism and class warfare.

This is a time for hope, change and new beginnings. Please step into the future to build a country once again based on equality. Democrats, Republicans, Hollywood, school teachers, Silicon Valley leaders are all unified.

VOTE NO ON PROP 8. It is the only ethical and moral thing to do.

Samuel L. Jackson narrates this new ad from the No on 8 campaign.

Of course vote NO on PROP 8, PLEASE, but it is a sickening, disgusting vote in the first place.

Imagine a heterosexual man sitting back peacefully as society voted on whether he, his wife, and his children deserved the rights and protections of civil marriage. What would HE think of PROP 8 in CA? Would he even THINK of opening up his wallet to fund a PR drive to gain a chance to "win" this civil right? O would it be "Live Free or Die"?

Yet we (the gay community), and our allies have agreed - AGREED - to hash out this "debate" with a public PROP 8 lottery (it's not a debate...I KNOW I DESERVE MARRIAGE).

Here's my "NON-Debate for PROP 8" - It really doesn't matter what others may "think" or "not think" at this point. La-la-la-la-la-la-la-laah... I will not pay an organization for Human Rights, Family Rights, Civil Rights, or Constitutional Rights. I will simply refuse to file my IRS tax returns until my FAMILY is equal under the law.

VOTE ON THAT!

As obviously discriminatory and retrograde as it is, we can't wish Prop 8 away. A lot of Mormon and other right-wing money has poured in to support this wrongheaded proposition, and the polls are way closer than they should be as a result. Californians who believe in fairness must vote NO; supporters outside the state, make your feelings known. Visit noonprop8.com/.

Hey all I know that it is Halloween eve and many are getting ready to leave the state to campaign and do GOTV for Obama. Please don't forget in all the excitement that both Proposition 4 and 8 are insidious. Proposition 4 is parental notification and back on the ballot for the third time by the same money folks. Young women will be hurt or die if this passes. Don't confuse religion with safety for our daugthers, sisters, neighbors. So get out there and vote NO ON PROP 4 and PROP 8. It is the just, moral and ethical thing to do. Protect our own don't sell them down the proverbial river.
