The President in regards to health care insurance reform said, “The time for bickering is over. The time for games has passed. Now is the season for action."
Indeed it is time to stand up and take action for health care insurance reform in this country. Former President Jimmy, we love you, but please sit down and hush up. We are getting lost in the rhetoric about race and diluting the message. Senator Max, you need to go stand in the corner for a few months and learn that bad behavior will not be rewarded. Political organizers, pundits, media and spokespeople get out there with a unified message. Health care reform is a Human Rights issue. Yep, no one in this great land of ours should be denied access to medical care because they cannot pay for it or are uninsured. Everything else is inconsequential.
Health Care = Human Rights
We can’t just let the kooks rule the day or threaten violence with their words. Don’t leave Speaker Pelosi fearing for political violence in the streets because we have not done our job. Rally those brilliant strategists from Podesta’s Center for American Progress or Joan Blades' MoveOn.Org. Give them an assignment to get us on message and reframe the conversation. Revive the Meet Ups throughout the country, and start a real dialogue with real people who work and worry about their children and aging parents. We know how to do it very well. Stop whining and letting the fringe dominate. Pundits use your megaphones to get out in front, and help this President. We are in a real mess unless there is leadership from the media, the pundits and the press. Reach out your hands to Obama to bring him in from the cold into the warm embrace of the people who elected him.

Not yet. Eventually, human nature being what it is, the cost to provide the service will overwhelm the ability to tax. Then rationing begins.
If the US moves to government run health care, your prescription medicine costs will rise. Canada can 'bargain' today because the US picks up the difference. Once we stop that subsidy because our government now has set the price, your - and every state run program - costs will rise substantially.
The biggest problem with all of these health care schemes is that they are not built on a solid funding foundation. Take for instance HR3200. We, the citizens, will be provided all of these services and only the rich will have to pay (and some mystical savings through reducing fraud and waste). Do you really believe you can fund a society wide service and not have all of society pay for it?
If the Democrats were honest they could have a proposal to vote on by the end of the month. Just lay out the benefits that will be provided and create an new payroll tax to pay for it. If they would do that, we could debate what was necessary and affordable. But we know they won't do something this simple, because the vast amount of tax payers would remove them in the next election.
Yes, it is a moral and human rights issue but pour government has not answered the challenge for decades because our government is immoral. How will anyone admit that our government is immoral or at fault, especially the Repugnantcans? The Repugnantcans claim our country is always right and perfect. Everything our government has done to deal with problems lately has been unethical - they bailed out the Banks that caused the financial crisis, with taxpayer money, but don't want to give the citizens an effective insurance care reform act because it would be too expensive.
I went to the hospital last night with Gallstone.
Healthcare in Vancouver, BC, Canada rundown;
*911 & Ambulance=Free
Emerg visit= Free
Cat Scan=Free
Ultrasound=Free
Lab tests=Free
Medications and Supplies=Free
wait time= 35 minutes
Taxes paid to healthcare this year 1200.00
Not Worrying about Hospital Bills ="PRICELESS"
"Thank you Canada for taking care of it's people"
I was raised in the states and after my wifes insurance ran out and she died of cancer bill was 300,000.00 I buried my wife and filed bankruptcy......
None of those services were free. You and your fellow citizens paid for those services through taxes. Eventually, not worrying about hospital bills won't be priceless it will be catastrophic. It's just a matter of time
we have had single payer health care for awhile and the sky is not falling chicken little. there are not dead bodies of canadians everywhere either.
Reframing that way won't help. Conservatives HATE Human Rights, and will do everything they can to oppose anything which might take money away from their corporate masters.
Although I agree that healthcare is more of a human rights issue than is being addressed, Democrats can't use that as an excuse to alienate the right. What we need to do is work with eachother on this important issue, so that a portion of the country does not become more disregarded when discussing healthcare. Moreover, the only way that Democrats will be able to gain Republican support on healthcare reform is to stop bickering within the party and set the example of working together.
"alienate the right." ?? How Nevile of you.
The Right have only two modes:
Defend their tribe no matter what
Attack everyone else no matter what.
They love it when you try to play nice.
Conservatism was formed to stop the Enlightenment.
"Historians use the word "conservative" to describe governments and leaders from the earliest recorded times, but it was not until the Age of Enlightenment, and the reaction to events surrounding the French Revolution of 1789, that modern conservatism rose as a distinct political attitude or train of thought. Health insurance wouldn't be NECESSARY and the question of insurance being a human right wouldn't have to be asked if people would take their craniums out of their glutius maximus and looked around at what's going on in the world. This financial crisis was completely and wholly predictable and avoidable if people hadn't given into their greed and corrupt natures and bought into the lies of snake oil salesmen who brainwashed many people into buying things they couldn't afford to sustain.
SHeeesh, how many bubbles have to burst before people start plugging up the hole that the water is draining down??
At this rate, makes me glad I HAVE issues bigger than the rest of you who think that some big bad guy in a robe called a bankruptcy judge is more frightening than The Grim Reaper
