How Insiders Messed Up

I had originally blogged on the launch of OpenLeft in this space, and I wanted to post again here because it was that piece that inspired me to do a post on OpenLeft.com yesterday I thought it would be good to let you all know about. A commenter, who was a bit of a smartass, argued that it was actually insiders like me who had messed everything up in the progressive movement, and wanted an explanation. I had actually written about this a few years ago, so I thought it would be good to take him up on his challenge, and explain how insiders had messed things up and the ascendancy of the conservative movement.
