We Don't Care. We Don't Have To Care. We're Goldman Sachs.

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Goldman Sachs has openly, blatantly gone back to business as usual, knowing they will be bailed out by taxpayers if their high rolling gambles don't work, and they don't care who knows about it.

The reason they can be so breathtakingly arrogant, so stunningly cavalier about not giving a damn about things that any other company's PR and government relations department would advise them against, is that they know they have the power to do anything they want to do. The Obama White House needs to take Goldman Sachs to the woodshed rhetorically, and they should have the Justice Department investigating them for anti-trust violations and all manner of stock manipulation. It is time to start squeezing the management at Goldman, and making them nervous about being broken up into pieces that are not too big to fail.

Here's (with brief intro) Matt Taibbi, Rob Johnson, and myself taking about Goldman Sachs on what is rapidly becoming my favorite media program for discussing economic issues, GRITtv:

What these fools are neglecting to consider is that ... there's more than one country on this rock. That there are literally billions of people whose lives and aspirations do not center around ledger-books.

Their "wealth" and "power," which they endlessly lord upon all other men, is completely vacuous. It exists only because they say it does ... and because they pay billions of dollars every single month(!) to men whose "purse is never filled."

Fables always end like Rumpelstiltskin's tale ... where the morning light comes and the leprechaun's gold is revealed to be, and to always have been, nothing at all but smelly straw. Reality always ends the same, as when tulip bulbs were once again revealed to be tulips.

Let us all stop tolerating these behaviors. Stop calling it "lobbying" and start calling it "bribery."

This is a crime that wipes out hundreds of thousands of people a MONTH. And for what?

Let us call it plainly, "crime," and expel it from our nation.

Capitalism is only bad when corruption runs amok. That happens in other systems too. There is no perfect system

I believe after healthcare is settled...the next is legislation on these "TOO BIG TO FAIL" banks who need to be broken up and heavy regulation on what they can do...like manipulate the markets that rape the public.

And Waxman's Cap and Trade CO2 bill is about to hand Goldman a huge trading opportunity. The billions they siphon off in the management and trading of the carbon credits will make their current activities look like making change at McDonalds.

Why the government couldn't just do a straight tax on carbon is beyond me....oh wait all the folks working on this are from Goldman Sachs.

That bill is bogus already. Did you not know that Australia and New Zealand already abandoned their Cap & Trade nonsense! We humans, who have doubled our population of 30 years are at
fault here putting out 800 ppm per human per year. Address that or quit making stuff up!

Now Bob Hormats is being appointed to State. This Administration can't take Goldman Sachs to the woodshed because Goldman is the Administration. It would be an exercise in self-flagellation.

The Dems are fixing the banks by bribing them with large gov't expenditures : No vestige of reform.

If they haven't the cojones to freeze the banks' assets and sort it out, and regulate it, they could...
get one major bank to fly straight, and throw the gov't business to that bank. As I see it the Fed
no longer regulates but coordinates banker actions across all banks, and it is collusive instead of rectifying.

Dear President Barack Obama,

The news is full of a constant barrage vilifying Goldman Sachs both from the left and the right. What is written about Goldman Sachs seems to be fairly accurate. Yes, I agree that Goldman Sachs is feathering their own nest but on the other side of the coin they seem to be aiding our country along with themselves.

Now is the time to ask who is stoking the boilers and feeding this story into the media and why. Is this perception management being fed by corporations, health industry, and drug industry to destroy the huge support that President Obama has by creating a scandal in banking bailout?

The truth is a nebulous commodity when dealing with such large forces with so much money to blow on cognition control. It is hard for us citizens to cut through the crap that is being feed us so I’m asking you, Mr. President, to speak out and give us, your supporters, the truth straight from the horses mouth.

There is a limit to what the Chief Executive Officer can do. It takes People.

And let us never be un-mindful that the Chief Executive can be corrupted, too ...

The relationship between Goldman and the Obama administration will one day be investigated (should start now but they won't). There are way to many ex goldman people working for the administration. And you wonder why they get special treatment? How many administration people will end up rich and working at Goldman?

Serious question: Why do Americans still put up with Capitalism??

Why do we not demand a system that doesn't enslave, abuse and poison 90% of the population?

Am I missing something here? You mean we gave them the bailout w/o making them first sign some new regulations that they would have to abide to, some restrictions to avoid them making the same shenanigans they did before? Their CEOs should have had to strip themselves to the bone and sell all their assetts, before they are entitled to receive our bail out. Next time there will be no bail out.
How stupid can our government be to not at least impose a safety valve.???

The bad press towards Goldman (deservedly so) is beginning to reach a critical mass. A large peaceful protest is planned for September 19th at 85 Broad.

With so much of the government bought and paid for by Goldman Sachs we will not see reform until the people stand up with black iron and take back our democracy from the thieving plutocrats.

Goldman Sachs employees especially management should sleep with one eye open. They have managed the largest swindle in the history of the United States of America.

American public has only a vote as its power. It has treated that obligation in a cavalier fashion fighting about irrelevant things such as abortion debate, guns and other things that divert attention from real matters such as money, governance etc. They continue to do so witness Sarah Palin fiascos. Well, the public deserves to be bankrupted by the crooks they elected.

Makes one wonder when many believes congress is controlled by lobbyists and the calls for federal campaign finance but yet we continure to re elect our congressman. I guess it is becasue the representatives representing us are as pure as the driven snow but the reps for other districts are the weak ones who can be swayed by cash, plane rides etc
