“There are certain tools and concepts I’ve shared with clients over the years that they say have helped them tremendously. And very often these are not the concepts and tools central to the initial mission, but ones which my clients call the “in betweens.” The bits I’ve said just in passing: “Oh you may want to try this.” It’s those little things, we often call them: those small actions that can end up yielding the most important results. In my work with clients all over the world I’ve found it to be consistently true: the difference between success and failure in an endeavor is not necessarily a great change, but the right change, even a small change, that turns the key and transforms a situation, a person, a relationship, a career, a life.

“When one of my clients asked me, “Where is all of this written down?” I realized that the answer was: nowhere. And so Smart Living Is was born. At Smart Living Is I share these concepts that work not just for companies but individuals as well: concepts that can transform their lives, professionally and personally, by shaping how they live, work, think, play, and relate to others. That’s what Smart Living Is all about: small changes for large results.”

Everything is changing--the economy, the world, our lives. And when things change, two things happen: the exciting part--opportunities open up, and the scary part--fear of the unknown. And because the unknown can be so scary for people, groups and businesses, they can clamp down. "Let's just hold onto what we...

Preventing Misunderstandings in Key Relationships: Create 'Agreements'

(13) Comments | Posted May 10, 2010 | 1:19 PM

Any healthy and productive relationship, business or personal, operates on the basis of certain "agreements." By agreements, I'm not referring to "what" we're doing or working on, but on "how" we do things/work together.

Examples of agreement topics include any ways we operate that may impact others, like:

Transforming Valentine's Day (and Letting it Transform You)

(2) Comments | Posted February 12, 2010 | 2:39 PM

February 14th. Every year, I am amazed at what this day inspires in us. Although "inspires" may be the wrong word, because in many cases it seems to bring up frustration, dejection and unhappiness -- not very inspiring! Whether you're in a relationship or not, Valentine's Day can be a...

(2) Comments | Posted January 20, 2010 | 4:45 PM

People are creatures of habit. And habits are a good thing--we form them in order to do certain things without really thinking (like brushing our teeth) so our brainpower can be freed up for other, more important things (like choosing what kind of work to do). Our habits become our...
