Obama's big day before the DAY he is president of the United States of America is here.
Today is the last day he will be known as President-elect Obama. The last day his hands will grip his blackberry wondering how he going to live without it. The last day he can have conversations that could be considered private and not open to public inspection. The last day to cherish that thing we cherish and guard adamantly, our private life and all that encompasses. Yes, there are so many "lasts" to this day. Some, I know he will surely give up gladly; others will be hard to contend with.
I have to say; it's a lot of "lasts" for me as well. It's the last time I can say; there are only old white men in the White House. Now, the story changes to, "there are men who have held power in the Oval Office". It's also the last time I can say, nature triumphs nurture. I've always agreed and coincided with those that suggest natural innate qualities bring you to success but on the other hand, had Obama not learned the game of dirty politics he would not be standing on the podium tomorrow at 11.30 am and receiving his honor of being president.
The most important "last" is that it's the LAST day Bush is in power! His final judgment and departure wont come with the heavens parting, I am sure. The sentiment here in Washington is, 'tomorrow can't come soon enough". Most wish he was gone 8 years ago. Instead, I'd like to thank Bush. Thank you Mr. Bush for being such a bad President that the entire nation could get over their prejudices and preconceived notions of what a President should look like and finally take a chance on something different. Thank you Mr. Bush for having such spectacular grasp of the English language and such beautiful means of articulation...Oh wait, that wasn't Bush?...Ooops. How did he get elected? Well, anyway, had he not been so incredibly bad, Obama's star may not have illuminated with such magnificence. Its much easier to see something when there is an obvious and extreme contrast, in the end Bush helped create the most historic last day in history. Yes. Thank you Mr. Bush for your last day, before "THE DAY".

From the Inauguration activities site, for the events at the Swearing-in ceremony:
"After President Obama gives his Inaugural Address, he will escort outgoing President George W. Bush to a departure ceremony."
That is, Obama will throw Bush off the White House property, LOL!
Will be watching the ceremony from home.
