Mirette F. Mabrouk is a Visiting Fellow at the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.

She is an Editor-at-Large at the American University in Cairo Press and was formerly Associate Director of Publishing Operations. Mabrouk is the founding publisher of the Daily News Egypt, the country’s only independent English-language daily newspaper. She started the paper in May 2005 and it rapidly became the leading English newspaper in the country. Previously, she was Publications Director at IBA Media, where she had been the youngest editor of a national magazine in Egypt.

Mabrouk is also an editor for Arab Media and Society, the online journal dedicated to understanding the role of media in shaping Arab societies and the broader Muslim world, produced by the Adham Center for Journalism Training and Research at the American University in Cairo and St Anthony's College at Oxford University. She is a member of the Brains Trust at the Switzerland-based Evian Group.

I can't help feeling sorry for Barack Obama. It must awful, being the Boy Wonder.

Everyone wants something and human nature being what it is, it's likely that people will want different things. It's a recipe for sure disappointment.
