Miriam Raftery is an award-winning journalist and author based in
California. Recipient of the American Society of Journalist and Authors' national Arlene Award, she has also won honors from the National Federation of Press Women and Society of Professional Journalists. In addition, she received San Diego Press Club's 2006 "Best of Show" award, plus first place honors for political and investigative reporting. Her political pieces have appeared at RawStory.com, AfterDowningStreet.org, San Diego CityBeat, and the East County Californian. A former columnist for the San Diego Union-Tribune, she has also published works in Woman's Day, Arizona Highways, Writer's Digest, and numerous other publications. Founder of Writer Ink, her 25-year writing career includes positions in government, business and nonprofit organizations as well as magazine editing experience.

For her next venture, she will serve as Editor in Chief of Our Back Fence, an online community magazine about to launch in San Diego's East County.
