Mohit Jain, a 17-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska is a member of the National Youth Advisory Council at generationOn, the youth enterprise of Points of Light. Mohit, inspired by his grandfather’s battle with Alzheimer’s, first became involved in service by working in the medical field. Now, he is involved in mobilizing other youth in service, specifically in public policy related to health, service-learning, and helping students reach national initiatives and opportunities.

Mohit is actively involved in medical research, investigating possible therapeutic interventions for Alzheimer’s disease at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he has been named a Travis B. Lewis Medical Research Scholar. He is also a member of the American Red Cross National Youth Council, one of 13 nationally that spearhead key initiatives for American Red Cross Youth, including a weekly newsletter (Youthwire), the RedCrossYouth.org website, and several student programs run for American Red Cross.

Currently, Mohit is a senior at Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. In Omaha, he is a member of the Live Well Omaha Youth Advisory Council and the Nebraska Governor's Advisory Board. For his work in public health he is a recipient of the Nebraska Governor's Point of Light Award and the President's Volunteer Service Gold Award. Recently, Mohit created a website, OmahaCares.org, to help connect youth in his community with volunteer opportunities.

Mohit was born in New Delhi, India, but was raised in several cities across the United States as he moved through 14 different cities in 17 years. In his free time, Mohit enjoys listening to music, practicing fencing, and studying politics. He aspires to become a practicing physician and an elected public health politician.
