Marvel is a wonderful company that I've loved since I was a child. They've created all the characters that I remember as being important to me growing up. I remember seeing all of the X-Men, Iron Man, Spiderman, the Hulk and all of the other main heroes that Marvel puts out into the world. They've even upped the ante by bringing back some of the classic heroes from their beginning such as Thor and Captain America. Marvel is so driven to create content for their fanbase so much that they end up pumping out new movies every year! Here's the truth about that statement unfortunately, this is more of a curse than a blessing.
Marvel has been a major force in the movie industry with the Spiderman and X-Men movies way back in the early 2000s, and continued that momentum for some time. They started adding more of their iconic figures into movies such as Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor -- and these movies were great when they came out.
But Marvel has fallen into the trap where they had all their main heroes out there. They have nothing better to do than to just continue to create movies with these characters. There are three Iron Man movies, a fifth Spiderman movie is being released, a second Thor movie was made and a second Captain America movie is being made as well as SEVEN (two of them are about Wolverine) X-Men movies. Marvel has gotten so used to these few characters, that their "newest" character is a revamp of Ms. Marvel. Marvel isn't the only one guilty of reusing a character/title over and over again. D.C. Comics has about eight Batman movies, nine Superman movies and don't even get me started on movies in general like Fast and Furious...
Here is where I get to lift your spirits again. There is a new Marvel movie coming out. The movie is called Guardians of the Galaxy, and the buzz is already building. The movie introduces FIVE, that's right you heard me, FIVE brand new main characters to Marvels repertoire. The names of these characters are Gamora (the green assassin/soldier girl), Rocket Raccoon (a talking maniacal raccoon), Groot (a sentient plant thing that is Rockets pal), Drax (scary guy with big muscles who is on a quest for revenge), and of course, Peter Quill (the silly human who calls himself Star-Lord). The full premise of the movie is unknown, but it's going to be an action comedy and if the movie lives up to it's trailer, it's going to be fantastic.
I believe Marvel has done much more than just create a new movie. I believe Marvel, accidentally or not, created a new age of creativity amongst various big companies like it.

Companies like D.C. comics may finally create new characters for movies as well! If Guardians of the Galaxy is as good as I hope it will be it to be, new ideas and characters will begin to spring up faster than Marvel can remake Spiderman AGAIN! Marvel won't abandon all of its other characters in pursuit of new heroes, but it is slightly more forgivable now that they've at least begun to put new ideas out there. All I know for sure at the moment is that I will definitely see Guardians of the Galaxy, and I hope you all will as well.
