Myles Spar, MD, MPH is the Medical Director and Director of Men’s Health at the Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Spar is board certified in Internal Medicine and completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine with Andrew Weil, MD at the University of Arizona. In addition to his practice at the Akasha Center, Dr. Spar directs the Integrative Medicine at the Simms-Mann Health and Wellness Center of the Venice Family Clinic, the largest free clinic in the United States.

As a faculty member of the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, Dr. Spar continues to teach medical students and residents and to be a principal investigator in research on the care of patients with an integrative medicine approach. He has published and presented on issues related to integrative medicine ranging from Men’s Nutrition to the use of a multi-disciplinary approach to patients with chronic pain. He is currently co-editing a book on Integrative Men’s Health.

Having worked as a humanitarian with Doctors without Borders in the field and on the board of directors of this Nobel prize winning organization, Dr. Spar brings a broad perspective to his work as a physician. He views his role as a partner with his patients, working with them to maintain optimal health and to invest in their own well-being. He has a strong commitment to both evidence-based practice and a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to healing. He brings this perspective to his work as a clinician, researcher and teacher to medical students and residents from residency programs throughout the Los Angeles area.

Dr. Spar graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University followed by a fellowship in Health Services Research and Masters in Public Health at UCLA. He can be reached at the Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine:
