I guess the plan was to pick a woman for VP and then every female (who mourned the loss of a "President" Hilary Clinton), would fall into line! After all 18,000,000 voters cracked the ceiling for Hil, so it follows, you thought, that Sarah is a woman... ergo, we all vote for Sarah. This is the same reasoning McCain uses when he feels that equal pay for women is no big deal: we'll get over it; we know our place. Well, I for one am somewhat annoyed and insulted (not surprised) that John and his Rovites just "don't get it." Do you really think we are all that stupid and oh so easily led?

Here's our deal, John. We vote for what we feel is best for our families, our communities, our country and our world. We hated the last 8 years for the loss of world respect for our country; the loss of more than 4,000 American heroes in Iraq; the loss of women's (and men's jobs}; the decomposition of our school systems; the loss of our seniors' savings; the loss of our rights; the bloodying of our Constitution; the tough-talk, bullying diplomacy; the cheating; the coverups.... I could go on but you get the drift (or maybe not).

Sorry, Sarah, but we women can't all get behind you this time.... Another time, another party and you would probably make a great leader!

Formatting made that illustration just a little funky, so let me just state the obvious:

Sarah Palin won't tower over McCain.

I'm offended that people mention Ferraro and Clinton in the same sentence. Please, Hillary is in a league all her own.

As a fervent Obama supporter, I sure wish this post's claims for the rationality of American women seemed like a sure thing. Obviously, the McCain camp assumes instead that American women who supported Hillary cared nothing about her values or proposals and were just voting for her because she has a vagina, and that these female airheads will therefore switch to their ticket once it has a vagina, too, no matter what the values and proposals of the ticket happen to be. I PRAY that this post is right and that a solid majority of American women are rational and driven by their desire to better the lives of women, including their daughters, with the right to choose, universal health insurance, etc., and that these women will do what Hillary told them to do and vote for her values and programs which will be fulfilled by Obama/Biden. But I'm very nervous that a majority of American women will act as stupidly as McCain's handlers think they will, and simply vote for McCain/Palin because Palin seems like "one of us" (as she is, but it's a big leap from Juneau to Moscow, especially if it seems fun and exciting to you to get out of Alaska and go to places like PA! Sure, Palin's a regular gal in spades. But she will END Roe v. Wade and kill health insurance for poor women with breast cancer. Aside from things like that, she's warm, and fun, and great.

HL Mencken said, famously enough, that no one ever went broke undestimating the stupidity of the American people.

We'll see.

As a woman, I'm appalled at the presumption of John McCain that anyone with a vagina will do. At a time when restoring America's position as the world leader has never been more important, he's chosen George Bush in a skirt as his running mate. There are many republican women that have the experience and foreign policy acumen required at this time in our history. His choice is self-serving and not in the best interests of this country.

In addition, as the mother of a 12 year old girl, I'm very concerned about Palin's radical views on abortion. While I haven't seen her position on birth control, I think it's vital the American people are told whether she will fight to rescind the right of women to the pill and other conventional types of birth control. It's a question I want answered and now. A sure sign we'd be headed toward third world nation status.

McCain just "suckapunched" himself. Now he can longer talk about experience after he picked the most inexperienced VP candidate. He can longer talk about celebrity now that he has picked a former beauty queen whose fame came from being a sports caster. He can longer claim to have judgement or to put country first because it is very plain that he picked Ms/ Palin purely for political reasons: to entice disaffected female supporters of Hillary Clinton to vote for him and to shore up the Rush Limbough/focus on the family base. If McCain really put country first he would never have made this choice particularly in view that he is 72 years old. Of Course people like who see politics as game see this as a great choice to attract women voters. May be it will work out like that but for god's sake, stop all this nonsense about McCain putting the country first.

Anyone who respects Hillary Clinton and votes for McCain has SERIOUS problems!!! She said Hillary was whining but now she is Hillary's biggest fan!!!

"When Palin praised Clinton for showing "determination and grace in her presidential campaign," the Alaska governor was met with a noisy mix of boos, groans and grumbles around the minor league ballpark where the "Road to the Convention Rally" was held"

Hopefully this completely transparent move will back fire. Palin was booed in PA today when she started comparing herself to Hillary! Way to go Pennsylvanians!

Altgough Obama fans may have been too ferocious about it,m we did try to warn Clinton fans _ did you not know McCainb was going down this path? Did Clintonistas really think Mccain capable of showing women respect? Have you not grasped what "4 more years" really means? Palin - the former beauty queen who became a 'reformer' becuase she didn't get the job she wanted, but who thinks its really about makin' babies and shootin' endangered species and drillin' wild-life preserves and using government to get back at people she don't like and taking bribes and teachin' cresationism in schools and - 'yup yup.' Nancy Hipp: Here's our deal, John. We vote for what we feel is best for our families, our communities, our country and our world.

You wish...and so do I.

The PATHETIC fact is, that 30% of Hillary's gals were (as of last week's polls) still ready to either sit this one out, or vote for PuddinHead John.

That's precisely why he chose Sarah Palin. He figured that the pureblind, stupid venality of all of these self-absorbed drama queens (what else can you call them, really?) was his best shot at winning.

I'm hoping...HOPING...that now the scales will drop from these PUMA-encrusted eyes.

We'll see.

Meanwhile, the BIG lesson for us all is that identity politics just SUCKS.

The selection of Sarah Palin as VP by John McCain is hard proof that he puts getting elected above the security, economy, and global presence of the United States and it's people. He has shown that he is willing to select a person who is totally inexperienced and ill equipped to serve as president should something happen to him in order to "win the Hillary Vote" or "draw more blue color hunters".

For all the attacks he has made on Obama as placing getting elected over "winning" in Iraq, this nullifies that. If this is accusing McCain of treason...then so be it.

Obama & Biden cannot make this accusation because they are men of honor and this is not done at their level. But, I'm just a high school teacher and can get to the heart of the matter.

If you care about our nation and, more importantly, you care about our children please vote for Obama/Biden, or, if you cannot bring yourself to vote for them (I cannot believe I'm going to say this) just do NOT vote. We need to let McCain and the GOP know, we will not tolerate this manipulation any longer.

"ENOUGH!!!!"

Of course they think women are interchangeable. They do it in their private lives all the time. Why else for all the multiple marriages.

McCain has trumped his own ace with a deuce. The gambler in him trusts his gut not his wisdom or judgment. I cannot imagine his advisors not speaking out against this move. This is yet another example of how much McCain is like Bush.

What remains to be seen is if the Democrats can call him on it. He is counting us to soft pedal our approach because she is a woman. He has "gone all in" thinking that if we give her the scrutiny she deserves, we will look petty or mean spirited.

Yet again he shows how out of touch he is. He just doesn"t get it. The MSM not withstanding, this has never been about gender or race. As Obama said in his acceptance speech this is about US. And it will be up to us to call his bet.

Because this ploy is directed at women voters, specifically those who so strongly supported Hillary, the burden to confront it will fall most heavily upon you.

Palin"s views on all the issues need to be vetted. Her views on the separation of church and state, her anti choice stand, her anti environmental views all need a public airing. Her abuse of power as a Governor should be exposed and rightfully compared to the firings in the Justice Department. And yes her experience and readiness to be Commander and Chief should also be questioned. This process will best be done by Democratic Women and do so they must.

As much as I truly love the great state of Alaska and anyone who hails from that great state, we need to stand up and be counted at the voting booth.

The next president will likely appoint three supreme court justices and Roe v. Wade hangs in the balance. A woman's right to choose is a huge thing,

As we continue to fight for that, our friends and loved ones need to know that we are taking a stand and vote with us accordingly.
