This song popped up at the end of a session in NYC last month. We recorded it that night before we went home. Hope you enjoy this little Shakey Pix video we did last week. I'll be with you on the 20th.
- Joe the rock star
Lyrics to "Fork in the Road"
Got a pot belly. It's not too big. Gets in my way when I'm driving my rig. Driving this country in a big old rig, things I see mean a lot.
My friend has a pickup. Drives his kid to school. Then he takes his wife to beauty school. Now she's doin' nails. Gonna get a job. Got a good teacher.
There's a fork in the road ahead. I don't know which way I'm gonna turn. There's a fork in the road ahead.
Forgot this year, to salute the troops. They're all still there in a fucking war. It's no good. Whose idea was that?
I've got hope, but you can't eat hope. I'm not done. Not giving up. Not cashing in. Too late.
There's a bailout coming but it's not for me. It's for all those creeps watching tickers on TV. There's a bailout coming but it's not for me.
I'm a big rock star. My sales have tanked, but I still got you. Thanks! Download this. Sounds like shit.
Keep on bloggin' 'til the power goes out, and your battery's dead.
Twist and Shout. On the radio. Those were the days. Bring 'em back.
There's a bailout coming but it's not for you. It's for all those creeps hiding what they do. There's a bailout coming but it's not for you. Bailout coming but it's not for you.
Got my new flat-screen. Got it repo'd now. They picked it up. Left a hole in the wall. Last Saturday. Missed the Raiders game.
There's a bailout coming but it's not for you. There's a bailout coming but it's not for you. It's for all those creeps hiding what they do.

Sailing hardships through broken harbors as always. Love ya, Neil...

Neil Young, I have loved you for decades. Your music is timeless and I appreciate you so much.
Thanks for everything Neil, you are precious!
The line about the repo-ed flat screen leaving a hole in the wall is a monolithic emblem for the country's suffering through 8 years of W policies. That line is so powerful...
Hey Neil, 100.3 in LA plays some great rock, including a lot of your songs, in fact. They have all kinds of interesting celebs spinning the turntables and just talking music, from Chrissie Hynde to Pau Gasol of the Lakers. You'd be a natural!
Joe the rock star, that's good.
And to paraphrase one of last year's candidates, "Alright, well, you're all Joe the rock star so all of you stand up!"
The Godfather of Rock and Soul!!!
A perfect poem, perfectly timed. His call to action, summed up at 3:50: "Twist and Shout. On the radio. Those were the days. Bring 'em back."
I love the look on Neil's face when he says "Bring 'em back." It's not about nostalgia for the 60s -- it's about keeping our eyes open to what's really happening, and reviving the energy of engaged democracy.
Imagine if the throngs of people who converge in DC for Inauguration Week start chanting, "What do we want? Peace! When do we want it? Now!" -- and update it with a little "Yes We Can!"
War is Over, If We Want It.
The first album I ever bought was Harvest and loved it so much I purchased the song book and could not play a lick. Being a fellow Canadian I am especially proud of Neil Young and am awed by his artistry.
Maybe one day the establishment will start to listen to the wisdom of your words and we can all live in peace. Got to get down to it soldiers are cutting us down.....

Welcoming you to Auckland New Zealand today! This old bag normally doesn't do rock concerts anymore, but I've got to see you one more time. ~ Ocean Girl
I know its been said here already, but I love you Neil and have since the first time I heard you. Your songs have been part of my life. My kids are big fans now. Anyway, thanks for all you do.
Great song, But I have to disagree, I figure if I can develop a big enough company, that effects enough people, like they did. I can get a bail out in a couple of years. Look if they can lose 350 billion dollars, Why??? can we all have them disappear the money our way??? What a bunch of over paid IDIOTS, Don't worry the newer generation is coming up. And all those war mongrals that have not changed anything for 50 years are all going to retire soon. Or go to jail. The world will be a better place soon, as soon as we stop the stupid wars and hate. It is time. People are realizing Stupid is a waste of time. We will join as one world or we will lose it all. Change is coming and I hope enough people are smart enough to notice it. It is not just the new Pres. it is all of us.
Writing from 1968 are you?
Peace baby.
Cool song, Neil. Thanks for making such great music for all these years, about as long as I've been on the planet.
Hey, hey
My, my
