Democrats need to realize that they still have the biggest majority in both houses of Congress that they are likely to see in their lifetimes.

The Republicans, in the days immediately after being "thumped" in the 1998 midterms, didn't freak out and reevaluate their agenda. They impeached the president. The Democrats must find their spines.

Progressives are going to have to make a choice: do we give in on the public option but then use our leverage to demand the most progressive possible legislation on everything else in this bill, or do we say no to the whole bill?

Harry Reid thinks he's got enough votes, but then this is the reason why the vote keeps getting pushed back -- because he's obviously still scrambling for the final few votes before he moves ahead.
