VP Biden & Silbelius Hear Health Care Woes from Small Biz Owners
the picture is crystal clear: we must fix the health care system in the U.S. and we must do it this year.

On the question of political character, the evidence on Obama is mixed and its core oddly elusive. Can he be a world leader without being a leader of his cabinet or his country?
In her short campaign as the GOP Vice Presidential candidate in the 2008 Presidential election it seems that Sarah Palin got addicted to the spotlight of national politics.
With 20,000 illegal guns from America recovered at crime scenes in Mexico over the last five years, there is no excuse for Congress and the President not to take steps now to close the gun show loophole.
If we all weren't so afraid of big, bad government, we'd realize the obvious: expanding the public sector is the most efficient way both to create jobs and stimulate the economy.
Nixon was bitter because he was just as smart and capable as elites -- he just wasn't one. He got accepted to Harvard but his parents couldn't afford it. Palin is bitter because "Facts," as Ronald Reagan once said accidentally, "are stupid things."
It's time to start putting pressure on the Iraqi government to settle their internal differences, and make clear that we're no longer going to be their crutch. This weekend, Biden did just that.
Joe Biden turned up the simplest and, some might say, most revealing anagram: "Job need I."
As harsh as this may seem, maybe it is time for Ted Kennedy to resign from the Senate and let the Democratic Governor of Massachusetts appoint a healthy successor.

What Palin's announcement really signifies is the final link in the chain confirming voters' choices across the board in last November's elections.
North Korea was to have been the drama of the day. But it turned into a major fizzle.
Sarah's resignation confirms what her values actually are by defining what is most important to her. Governor Palin is going to keep as much of her newfound money as she can.
If the Republicans win the governorship here, the national media will trumpet that as an Important Trend. And a sign of the president's impending doom in 2012.
Unlike most other developed nations, the U.S. doesn't promote tourism to attract visitors. The Travel Promotion Act could serve as a much-needed stimulus for this depressed industry.
NRA officials seem to say one thing while their surrogates say another. Either NRA leaders are afraid of showing their weakness, or they have lost control of their message -- or both.
Why is gun control considered a "cultural" issue, when those who value guns support various forms of gun control?
Biden has wanted Obama to express admiration and support for the risks Iranian citizens are taking to secure democracy. A recent White House statement makes this concern clear and shows Biden's influence.
It's finally here! The glamazons of government are going head-to-head in the ultimate political fashion smackdown. Sure these friends and frenemies ar...
Those who wish for Obama to adopt a stronger tone ground their argument in the arrogant belief that our endorsement is the sine qua non of any successful democratic political movement.
The problem continues to be the administration's habit of conflating the health of the Wall Street economy with the health of the real economy -- when, in fact, the two economies have become decoupled.

Good grief this thread grew legs, became a monster and personal agenda for a handful of posters. The twisting of what VP Biden said, perhaps to fulfill individual schema via projection has now become slightly odd and almost uncomfortable to read.
Anything written of Israel will be reacted to with emotion¦I get it. But it is unfair to place blame for personal fear, anger, and irritation on Mr. Biden, when to do so two opposing sides are insisting his meaning is their own. It is not the healthy discussion of opposing views that is bothersome, (it's why we're here) but rather the creative back and forth and seemingly intentional misinterpretation of the vice president"s words in order to back individual stance that I find frustrating.
Biden is as straight forward in speaking as they come, and I understand if he says an item is blue, that he indeed means that the item is blue. Comments such as "had he [Biden] added..." is absurd. This was a good interview covering myriad topics, cherry-picking wording left in or out is a cheap shot.
Rather than my embarrassing tirade, perhaps read the post by ChampLessFuzzy; it"s beautiful in its honesty. Often things are far simpler than we insist on making them out to be; however, our deepest fears, ardor and passion can suddenly, and inadvertently, tangle up a perfectly straight line.
(thank you)
Without our support a belligerent Israel will not last a day in the Middle East;
Without our support Israel would not have had nuclear weapons;
Without our support Israel would not have attacked Iraqi and Syrian nuclear facilities,
and without our support Israel would not be suppressing the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Joe Biden"s statements were dangerous and provocative. What was he thinking?
Israel more than any other nation in the world, including Iran and North Korea, might be instrumental in starting the last war humanity will encounter.
No one has reported nuclear testing by Israel. No one has reported seeing nuclear missles inside Israel. The only evidence we have nukes is the word of a convicted liar and traitor. This is hardly sufficient evidence.
Israel attacked the nuke sites in Syria and in Iraq in our own best interest and without help from the US.
Hamas, not Israel, is responsible for the sad lives of ordinary Gazan citizens.
VP Biden spoke the truth.
ANyone foolish enough to claim Israel is more dangerous than Iran or North Korea is ignorant of the situation in either of those nations.
Mr. Sadegh displays an unhealthy and dangerous bias against Israel that is based on falsehoods.
Just for the record: You do not believe Israel has "nukes" ?
Israel certainly IS more dangerous than Iran. Israels actions in Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, Syria and elsewhere speak for themselves. Anyone foolish to claim otherwise is lying.
It seems history has an anti-Bubba bias.
Americans are being prepared for a war with Iran. We have forgotten about all that propaganda preceding the Iraq war because we have a dangerously low attention span and zero historical perspective. Demonization of Hussein is very similar to the current demonization of the Iranian mullahs. For sure, these are despicable regimes but so are many others around the world. What makes Iraq and Iran "special" is their oil resources and their regimes' unwillingness to go along with American hegemony. Imperial hubris will kill whatever good that is left of the American experiment.
Gosh, I guess it will be the visionaries like you and arle who guide the US into the remainder of this century with your immense optimism.
In the transcript, Biden's remarks on the willingness to engage with Iran given close to his remark of Israel's sovereignty to attack Iran suggest a carrot and stick approach to diplomacy, rather than any green lights to Israel. It's certainly not the best approach to use, and Iran has already used it to their advantage by heralding it as a form of approval in the midst of an uprising.
The only carrot I'm seeing in Biden's hands are AIPAC lobbying dollars.
So far I favor the Biden ineptus theory, rather than any attempt to send signals to Iran.
Interesting also is this report:
Iraqi lawmakers warn Israel against attacking Iran

. . . and the fact that our Iraqi friends refer to Israel as the "entity." The Iraqis may have hated Saddam (at least the Shiite majority) but they seem to share his views on Israel. And, come to think of it -- Iran's.
So much for neocon hopes that Iraq would turn into another subservient Egypt.
