In January of 2004 I visited "Bucca Camp," a U.S.-run POW camp near the isolated port city of Umm Qasr, in southern Iraq. This was a year before the capture of Awwad Ibrahim Ali al-Badri al-Samarrai, who, starting in 2005, would spend four years in the camp under the name Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.
