Today is international ozone day, a day when we traditionally celebrate the Montreal Protocol treaty for its historic success solving the first great threat to the global atmosphere--the threat to the protective stratospheric ozone layer from chlorofluorocarbons, CFCs.
There are currently 900 million room air conditioners worldwide. As populations and incomes increase and as the world grows warmer, this number is projected to grow to 2.5 billion air conditioners by 2050.
Remember when a day at the beach meant getting away from it all, including the phone? I don't either. While I'm all for disconnecting, that definitely doesn't mean leaving any of my beloved electronics behind.
