Mr. President, it is time to restore religious freedom protections in federal contracts. I urge you, please, honor this historic anniversary by restoring the civil rights protections that began 70 years ago this week.
As costs rise in nearly every aspect of life, low-income people are forced to bear an increasingly heavy yoke. And as long as our systems for determining who should receive aid are based on outdated models, these people have no hope for relief.
Obama's faith should be irrelevant since unlike Bush's Christian-dominated faith-based initiatives, he insists that he will not use government resources to promote either Christianity or Islam or any other religion.
Choosing to support Obama has never been about issues. Rather, it's always been about electing a president we can reference with pride -- a president who won't flatly embarrass us everyday, who can inspire and negotiate the necessary support he'll need to roll back the darkness of the Bush years.
