It's no different whenever you want something in life: You need to ask for what you want. Simply having the courage to ask people for what you want can change your life, but it's unfortunate that so many of us fail to be courageous.
"The bottom line is that vulnerability is scary and it feels really dangerous, but it's not nearly as dangerous or scary as spending your life on the outside looking in and wondering, 'What if I had chosen to show up?'"
This kind of "psychological courage" is essential to our health and happiness because it allows us to face up to our lives. To acknowledge and even confront the addictions and lies, fears and mistakes we make so that we can move into them and beyond them.
