I used to pray every night. Starting in the 4th grade, every night before bed I slipped my rosary over my head and slept with it on. The dreams I had were terrible. I've always had a ton of nervous energy, and at night it led to dreams of running, and falling, and fighting for my life. I prayed not to dream. I asked God to take them all away.
On November 28, 2015, my spouse and I went to see Trumbo, which is based upon the life of Dalton Trumbo and how it was impacted during one of the most shameful times in U.S. history -- the McCarthy era. The film interested me because of many comparable similarities today and because the father of close childhood friends of mine had been included on the Hollywood-blacklist.
Spirituality should be about embracing who you are, developing your own sense of belief, and walking boldly in the fullness of your potential. Instead of succumbing to the pressure of treading against or thriving for an idea of perfection that's forever out of reach, be empowered by the process of your spiritual evolution.
